Birch Bay Beach Blanket Beer
CJ's Beach House Restaurant was as good a place as any to stop for a beer on my spontaneous drive around Birch Bay after getting gas (side note, save ten cents with debit at the gas station just outside of Semiahmoo). Mac & Jack's is now a staple in my amber ale cadre of beers. Refreshing and not over powering like many of the reds that are trending these days. I'm thinking it's a safe bet if the color is a cloudy copper. Birch Bay reminds me of Sechelt. A long stretch of waterfront bliss with a summer influx of visitors and a village feel. Coming here evokes memories of camping just up the way on an empty plot of land in the early nineties with friends. Learned not to boil coffee in an oily pot or build a tent on an ant hill. When I get home I'll see if the Two Beers EVO IPA I picked up at the market here is as good as it was the last time I had it on tap at Bellingham's Elizabeth Station. If not, oh well. It's beer. How bad can it be?* *Disclaimer: Coors, Bud and Molson are not considered when I say this.
