I saw several comments that said Lexie grey would’ve hated Maggie Pierce because Meredith grey warmed up to her so quickly and frankly I agree and disagree
Of course Lexie is gonna feel upset (we saw that with April) but then she’s gonna realize she’s thinking about it wrong and is gonna warm up to Maggie
Lexie isn’t dumb she’s gonna realize the difference between her meeting 28 y/o Meredith and Maggie meeting 30 somethin y/o Meredith
When Lexie was introduced there was a lot going on with Meredith and her father’s side. She hasn’t seen her father since she was 5 years old and then he comes around with a wife two kids and a grandkid on the way. She’s also depressed and suicidal and dealing with her mother (the past with her mother. The last time she saw her father he slapped her for not finding a way to save his wife then he uninvited her from her funeral. Then Lexie comes in and persists on making friendship bracelets with Meredith. All Meredith sees is her father hurting her and some little kid who got everything she wanted. Another thing she had little support, the only people she had was Derek (who was half there) and Cristina. She also had little family experience, her mother hated her, her father was gone, and she only knew Richard for a few months.
When Maggie gets there everything is different. She’s gotten over her mother and doesn’t have many ties to her. Her last memory of her mother isn’t great but she has had time to understand the reasoning behind it (that don’t make it right but you can understand it). She’s less depressed and she’s not suicidal…I think. Maggie didn’t have ties to her family except blood she quite literally has her own family (which we see with the fish. And she had lots of support and family experience. She had Richard, Derek (ish), Alex, Cristina (over call), Callie and more. And she’s had sisters and a husband and kids and a father she understands family now.
Maggie and Lexie had very different experiences when meeting Meredith because they met different Meredith’s. There’s a 7 year gap between meeting where family has come and gone friendships have grown and died and she has grown and changed.
Lexie would realize that and she would work to overcome her issues of Meredith and Maggie’s sisterhood.
Let’s not act like Lexie isn’t a genius or idk a human with a brain and emotional capacity
