Wandererās Refuge, notes from the tracks 3: Bear necessities
Lilith Hughes was hungry, and it had been a long time since sheād eaten any seasonings, so she was very, very happy about what sheād found close to town today, so much she didnāt even question the train parked in the middle of the woods, separated from any tracks.
She took a huge bite out of a heavily salted piece meat, chewing for a whole minute before being able to swallow, saying āthis is a great day, right, Floof?ā
The creature grunted in response, quickly ripping apart a fish the girl had carried over.
She lightly pat her friend on the head, smiling before looking to the starry night sky with a sigh. āI want to go somewhere, Iām bored, but mama said not to trust anyone, the world is too scary.ā
Lilith felt cold and sidled up to Floof, she laid down with her knees hugged tight to her body, the large, two-headed grizzly then turned its body to her and held her close, enough that she could feel its head and the movement of its breathing as she heard the air puff through its nose.
āYouāll protect me, right Floof? Yeah, I donāt need anyone elseā¦ā The thirteen year old mumbled as her slowly closed her eyes facing the dimming campfire and let sleep take her for tonight, trying not to think about tomorrow or the day after, just happy to survive the now, and the symbol on her forehead glowed a dim yellow.
