Ravnica Allegiance Prerelease

I forgot to post my Sunday prerelease.

Opened a promo Simic Ascendancy and 2 Sharktocrabs so several people had to get locked down with that combo. Also, bolstering your Simic ranks with riot creatures works really good.

Went 2-1 against Simic

Went 2-1 against a Gruul splashing blue

2-1 against another Simic

And 2-0 against a Rakdos

So for the second time in the weekend I finished first.

Core Set 2019 Prerelease

Off to a good start in playing with Core Set 2019, and off to a bad start in recording it.

Opened a pool with pretty good White, Black, and Red. Managed to narrow it down to an aggressive White/Black life gain/zombie deck with a sideboard full of Act of Treason when needed.

Went 2-1 against a Red/Green Ramp

2-1 against a White/Blue control

2-0 against a Blue/Red/Black control

And then a 0-2 against another Blue/Red/Black control (they had Bolas)

Still, ended up finishing in the top 4.

Core Set 2020

(Insert hindsight is 2020 joke here about recording these right away)

First round was 1-2 against a superior Golos deck

Next was a 2-0 against a Black/Green go wide

Last round was 0-2 against a Red/Green Elemental deck

I managed 3rd place (out of 4 people)

War of the Spark Prerelease

For my last event of the weekend I didn’t play great, got some cards I was hoping to get, and made a fun deck.

Promos this time were Ignite the Beacon and Dovin. setting those aside I pulled Feather and Oketra, so of course I had to build a deck that worked with those to, even though they don’t work great together.

First round was 0-2 against a White/Blue control

Next was a bye

Then a 1-2 against a White/Green with a low curve that went wide

And finally a 1-2 against a Black/Red/Green control

Both my wins involved getting my Feather engine going and I could have made an Oketra win but I misplayed.

War of the Spark Prerelease

Third event was Sunday afternoon and I did not do great. Pretty sure I got last.

Promos this time were Time Wipe and Kiora. I also opened up a Kefnet.

In the end I just couldn’t bring myself down from 4-color and I ended up with another proliferate/super friends deck. I had just enough color fixing to make it bearable and after the first round made it heavy on Blue and Green and light on White and Black.

First round and second rounds were 0-2 against White/Blue/Green proliferation

I had a bye the 3rd round.

And I finished with a 0-2 mirror match in the fourth. Though they splashed blue and white instead.

So many Teferi and Ajani all over.

Second event was Saturday evening and was less casual. And I was more tired. Much more tired.

Opened Narset’s reversal and Arlinn, Voice of the Pack for promos. Also Ilharg, Ilharg’s neat.

Built a Black/Red/Green reanimator deck that did good, but not great.

First round was 1-2 against a Redless proliferation and amass deck

Next was a 2-0 against Black/green proliferation

Then a 2-1 against a (insert the opponent’s deck here, which I won’t because I was tired, didn’t write it that moment, and had forgotten it by next round. I was very tired.)

Then 2-1 against Black/Red amass

And finally 1-2 against some color combination of proliferation

I think I finished 9th, maybe?

War of the Spark Prerelease

First event was Saturday afternoon and was a more casual event.

Opened Vivien’s Arkbow and Sarkhan the Masterless as promos as well as a second Arkbow and a Nicol Bolas in my packs.

And used none of them.

Instead I went with a White/Blue/Green superfriends and proliferate deck.

With 5 planeswalkers among 3 colors and 5 sources of proliferation, 2 repeatable, it was too hard not to.

And I placed 3rd, so that was neat.

First round was 2-1 against a White/Black Flying deck with a deadly Ob Nixilis

Next was a 2-0 against a Blue/Green proliferate deck making 4/4 wolf with an Arlinn copied

Finally was a 1-1-1 against a Red/Green 4 power deck with Tibalt, Kiora, and the Red and Green gods.

Ravnica Allegiance Prerelease

Let’s write this before sleep as opposed to sensible options.

First event I went with Orzhov and placed in the top half, getting a box of sleeves and a deck box.

First round was 2-0 against a Rakdos

Then a 2-0 against a Simic

Then a 0-2 against Azorius

Second event I went with Gruul and tied for first, splitting the top to prizes and getting 29 packs

All 4 rounds for 2-0 against Rakdos. The fifth would also would have been Rakdos.
