oh, who was this again? he thought this kid looked familiar... one of sakuma's friends? ah, it came flooding back now. their unit leader had gushed over the recording of this kid’s performance, and made kaoru sit down and watch it. and he distinctly remembered the first impression he got from their uniforms at that live...
“ah, fancy seeing you here, cherry lemon lime! i don’t think i ever caught your name, so let’s call you that for now~ i don’t really want to do this project, but i guess you can have this special service where i’ll be a reliable upperclassman just this once~”
then, kaoru thought deeply for a moment and inquired, “well, this is spellsinging... don’t you think our usual genre’s are a little... incompatible?”
Rare days when his innate drive to upkeep routine gets lenient do exist, as Elsword is only human. So tonight, instead of heading to the training hall to slash away at practice dummies after finishing homework, he wanders around the magical forest surrounding the academy, letting his mind drift in the cold air amidst all the stars. Some of the alien wildlife and vegetation offset him initially in the walk, but the knight soon finds the atmosphere to be very, almost disarmingly calming.
Or perhaps he should lighten up a bit more? Despite the numerous peculiarities situated in the campus, there seems to be no dark lords hiding behind the scene to sharpen their claws, nor minions ready to bare their fangs. All he can see are individuals similarly lost like himself, who are trying to adapt to the best of their abilities. They’re living on with both caution and indulgence of what this academy has to offer, and Elsword learned to conform. Before he knew it, the knight has grown to enjoy his time here. The campus is relatively peaceful, but when the atmosphere is laden with so much mysteries and magic, it’s impossible to grow bored. In a way, Hiraeth reminds him of how he envisions the world outside his small village as a child, before wars ravaged the land and forced him to throw away imagination.
Now, speaking of an interesting development: there’s another silhouette besides his own that is also shifting in the forest. Yet, it’s nearly their curfew, and not to mention this forest is very dark and potentially dangerous-who knows what kind of strange creatures lurk in here despite its calm exterior. It makes him feel uneasy to leave someone unattended by themselves in an unpredictable space like this, whether they’re armed or not.
“Hey, it’s pretty late. You wanna head back to the school building with me?” He suggests, a smile forms on his face amidst the shroud of darkness- it almost feels like Elsword’s back in his simpler times in Ruben once more, trying to fulfill patrol duty as a guard.
