Finally getting back to the femslash february 😆
Day 5: Stars - Maru/Haley (Stardew Valley)
Special thanks to my girlfriend @natoucan for ghostwriting it for me 😆
The gentle coolness of the night breeze was a welcome relief after the heat wave that had swept through the small mountains of Stardew Valley. Maru enjoyed savoring this calmer moment as she gazed at the stars, to the sound of crickets chirping in the night. With her eye pressed to the eyepiece of her telescope, she marveled at the almost surreal movements of the planets.
“Okay, is it my turn or not?”
Maru sighed. She didn’t really know why, but tonight Haley had insisted on joining her. She stepped aside, making room for her.
“Go ahead, if you want,” she said, trying to keep her composure.
In turn, Haley pressed her carefully made-up eye to the eyepiece and almost immediately pulled away with an annoyed pout.
“I don’t see what’s so interesting about that.”
Of course. Maru hadn’t really expected Haley to understand the fascinating complexity of distant solar systems evolving millions of light-years away from their small planet. She was probably more interested in clothes, in figuring out the best way to match her eyeshadow to her outfit of the day—or in her selfies.
Yes, the selfies. Haley wasn’t only passionate about her appearance, but also about photography. Maru pulled her phone from her pocket, opened her gallery, and scrolled through dozens of images before finding the one she was looking for.
“Look, I can take amazing pictures with my equipment. That’s the Gemini constellation.”
She handed the phone to Haley, showing her the beautiful photo of the sky she had taken at the beginning of summer.
Haley’s face lit up.
“Oh wow, that’s my zodiac sign! Could you teach me how to recognize it?”
She was already pressing her eye to the telescope again. Maru found herself unexpectedly charmed by her enthusiasm, and a small smile formed on her lips. She placed a hand on Haley’s shoulder, and Haley looked up at her.
“I’ll need to adjust the telescope if you want me to show it to you.”
Haley stepped aside, giving Maru room to adjust and aim it properly. She searched the sky, made one last adjustment, then stepped back with a smile.
“There it is.”
Haley rushed to the eyepiece, looking delighted.
“That doesn’t look like twins at all.”
Maru laughed softly.
“That’s the thing with constellations—they never really look like what they’re supposed to be.”
“What’s your zodiac sign?”
“Cancer. It’s the one just to the left.”
Haley slightly turned the telescope, observed the sky for a moment, then stepped back.
“I was sure you were a Capricorn. You’re so boring and such a workaholic…”
Then she smiled at her. A real smile.
“But it’s funny that our signs are right next to each other. I’ll come back tomorrow night—you’d better show me your photography gear.”
She turned on her heel and walked away, her beautiful blonde curls swaying behind her. Maru watched her leave and realized, with surprise, that she was already looking forward to the next evening.
