I recommend We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, it's a Gothic-style novel so it's perfect for fall or winter. The book is quite old, but it was adapted into a movie featuring Alexandra Daddario and Taissa Farmiga in 2018.

I've gotten my friend's letter and its so exciting I'm prolonging my excitement by propping it up in front of me so I can look at it while working and saving it for later to read kinda like a treat.

Except that I also mix my joys and sorrows and right next to that letter are my project submission requirements.
