The Famous Heroine by Mary Balogh
One of the funniest Mary Balogh's books. I love when she writes funny fmc and quirky mmc, they're always a delight. So fmc is burguose and is suddenly trapped between aristocrats and she thinks mmc is a gay man (BOOM).
Are you bored of sober and serious MMC??
I don't cope with people who were unable to see them as a couple and only as friends. Mmc was in love for seven years with another woman, of course he won't forget her in a day. Also the way they feel protectiveness toward each other is AGSJEINDKE amazing. I think they develope a romance different from the usual historical romance and that's why I found them so endearing. The only problem is how short the book is, maybe with a little bit more chapters she could show more of their romantic side, although I think actions speak for themselves (and the way they feel towards each other and act to protect the other is enough).
Also mmc's response when he realizes fmc thought him gay!!!! This is not the first time Mary proves her respectfully towards queer community.
I also must admit that I have some preference towards mmc as I knew him before in "Lord Carew's Bride" so that must add some stars to the book.
As always a delight to read Mary Balogh. I certainly portrait mmc as Damson Idris and fmc as Honey Rose.
