Joaquín had glanced over at him, seeing Sam half out of his suit, how Sam’s shirt clung to his body, the ripple of his muscles at every small movement. And Joaquín was lost in that for a moment; lost in how Sam’s muscles shifted as he bent his body, kicked off the boots and peeled off the pants of the Captain America costume, how his shorts were pulled down a tad from taking off the pants, showing a sliver of the tight boxer briefs underneath, how his runner’s leggings covered flexing thighs as they were freed from the vibranium mesh, the socks with a little falcon design that were oddly cute, especially juxtaposed with the rest of the outfit Sam had underneath the suit. “It’s okay if you don’t,” Sam added, breaking Joaquín’s trance, Joaquín shaking his head, interrupting as Joaquín said, “No, no. I have time. What’s up?” “Can you help me out with something?” asked Sam.

Sam travelled a lot from New Orleans to Delacroix to help out his sister with the family business on the weekends, so he tended to get Bucky small little things whenever he spotted something that reminded him of his roommate in the gas station he stopped at sometimes midway through the drive or at the tourist shop near the farmer’s market where his family had a stall or at one of the small boutiques on the main street in town. Nothing big. Nothing like a cat.

Everything was shut down; public transportation, schools, business, roads. No one knew how to drive in several feet of snow nor was the city equipped for it, so San Francisco ended up having the most bizarre snowcation week. Bucky was laying down his arms wrapped lazily around Joaquín’s waist as they watched a Jingle All the Way, Arnold walking into that black market toy warehouse on the screen, because Joaquín had promised up and down that it was a holiday classic to Bucky and Bucky finally broke down and said yes to watching. Joaquín half paid attention to Arnold’s life spiraling into toy finding insanity, half-working on the knitting he had on his needles. Sam walked over, sitting on the edge of the couch next to Joaquín and wrapping his arm around Joaquín, feeling Bucky’s hand rub his back as a “hello”, glancing down at the diagram and instructions for a knit falcon plushie.
