This tasty stir-fry shows how versatile seitan is. Seitan is a meat substitute made from wheat gluten that is high in protein. This dish is great for both vegans and meat eaters because it has the right amount of flavors from the soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, and ginger.
Ingredients: 200g seitan, sliced thinly. 1 bell pepper, sliced. 1 onion, sliced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tbsp ginger, grated. 2 tbsp soy sauce. 1 tbsp maple syrup. 1 tbsp sesame oil. 2 cups cooked rice.
Instructions: Set a pan on medium heat and add the sesame oil. It will take one minute after you add the garlic and ginger. For about 5 minutes, or until the seitan is lightly browned, add the slices. After you add the onion and bell pepper slices, cook for another three to four minutes, until the vegetables are soft. Put the soy sauce and maple syrup in a small bowl and mix them together. Then, pour the mixture over the stir-fry. Mix things together well. Serve hot on top of rice that has been cooked.
