Middle-Ages

I asked themes to my friends and the first one was Middle-Ages, so here you go. I will try posting something everyday, but I might not have time. It will essentially be short pieces with original characters, but it could be me answering asks, too.

The first time he had wondered about History was at some contest. Thinking back of it, he realized that they had mixed more than one periods of History, but as a child, he had been amazed by the comedians dressed as Vikings. He had admired them, even more when he had failed as a comedian himself – although that was just a stupid play school. Then, he started listening in History class. That didn’t last long, because of one bad teacher followed by one bad grade. He still liked random History facts, though. When some aunt that didn’t know him that well bought a Renaissance History book, his first real book – that he owned, without pictures, with long, complicated sentences and pages – he studied it in detail, read it over and over to understand it.

He never really got into the Renaissance, though. He was more interested in a more obscure period of History, a period with less accounts. He just loved the Middle Ages, described as the “Dark Ages” by the Renaissance propaganda. For him, it was his whole life.

He never ended up dressing as a Viking, or anything else, but he took his child to see a medieval festival, just like his father had done so, hoping that he would be able to pass on his passion or, if not, to put stars in his kid’s eyes.

Day 9: Full Moon from xmasprompts

A/N: Jack and Kyle are OCs, the only relevant thing to know is that they’re together and live with other friends and pretty much spend all day with them :)

Jack didn’t like to walk outside in the cold much. He actually loved to walk or run and be outside, but he didn’t like the cold and night time wasn’t his favourite moment of the day. Kyle probably was the opposite. He loved the cold and lived during the night, but he didn’t enjoy walking, as far as Jack was aware. Of course, for the other, they didn’t actually give a damn. As long as they had some time for themselves, away from the others, they could bother. It wasn’t that they couldn’t be together around their friends or that it annoyed anyone – if so, fuck them – but they liked to have their time away from them and actually have some privacy.

All in all, Jack loved walking in the cold night, if it meant spending time with Kyle. He could do that every day, even more so when the moon was full – or just out – and that Kyle stopped to stare at it, in awe. Kyle loved the moon. Jack loved being able to witness the rare expression in his eyes.
