For all the athletes out there, I know it's crazy, but it's kinda wild how much Bluelock lwky teaches you about mindset/mental game. Like you can go to so many coaches and they'll be like "You have to know what kind of athlete you want to be" and "you have to believe in your self" and "nervousness is just excitement" bruh pls be so fr. Hearing it from Coaches is inspiring like "i could do that" but as soon as you get to a tournament/meet or a high-pressure situation, it's just like all that talk goes out the window. Bc it's really only talk.
But watching Bluelock it lowkey shows you how athletes actually use these types of mindsets in practice and how they make it apart of them.
First, I have always had a hard time with treating my friends like competitors bc I didn't know how to separate them in my mind and I didn't want to treat my friends like that. But bluelock (albeit on the extreme end) showed me that you can be competitive like that with your friends. I was just scared lol
Second, if you have never heard of turn the nervousness into excitement. The idea is that the body has the same or very similar reactions for nervousness and excitement. The difference is that the mind thinks- depending on the situation, it is one or the other.
They touch upon it in Bluelock for like half a second. During the U-20s match, Rin asks Isagi, "What are you so nervous about, you dunce?" and Isagi replies with "Ha! I'm just excited."
Third, understanding what kind of athlete you want to be. I have a hard time with confidence in my sport. I am working on it and have improved immensely. I worked with a coach recently, and she helped me figure out what kind of athlete I want to be when I go to a tournament/meet. However, for me, as soon as I arrived at the premises of the tournament, I forgot about it, because i got nervous and spiralled.
But watching bluelock, both Isagi and Reo managed to do what my coaches we telling me. During the selection matches for Bluelock 11, when Isagi is playing his match, he literally stops mid-game, reevaluates how he had been playing, and asks himself, "What kind of soccer do I want to play?" and Reo did it too during the U-20s match.
Lastly, having proper goals is essential. In sports, the way we write goals is important; they have to be specific and timely. You cannot just say, "I want to be the best." There is no timeline, there are no smaller goals that go along with it, it's vague, and most importantly, it's not confident. You want to be the best, okay. How? When? With whom? Where? Do you want to be the best in your country? Do you want to be an Olympian? Do you want to be the best in your club? What are the smaller goals to get there? If a goal is too big and without small goals to accompany it, it can feel like you might never achieve your goals.
A better goal for that scale could be something like "I will compete and win gold at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028." It's confident, you said "I will," not "I want." It speaks your goal into existence, as if you have already won. There's a time involved, 2028. As well as a location, in Los Angeles for the Olympics.
A smaller goal could be something like, "I will place top 25 at Nationals in June." It has confidence, it's achievable, with a time and place.
In Bluelock, Isagi tells us his goal in the interview right after the U-20s match. He says, "I will lead Japan to victory in the U-20 World Cup." It could very well be their next step.
However, Bluelock also shows us a vague goal as well, one with meaning and want, but still vague. Reo's goal of winning the World Cup. I have been repetitive and annoying enough that the reasons why this goal is not enough should be blaringly obvious. He wants to win the World Cup. When? How? What does the timeline look like?
BlueLock may be extreme, but it still has some truth to it lol. I've been trying to get my teammates to watch it so I can yap about it to them but they took one look at BlueLock and have never returned. I am now banned from talking about it lmao. Anyway, sorry for the yapping sesh. I hope it was informative at least 😭.

I am awake & getting caffeinated.
Getting to work but not feeling fully awake.
It is still hard not to weigh daily.
In the past, if I didn't weigh every day, it meant that I was gaining.
So the challenge is to stay on track but without that daily number.
The drawback of the daily number though is that it can mess with your head.
Not weighing every day means that my mental state is not getting messed up daily. I don't walk around with a cloud over my head because of a high number. [That would often cause a binge]
So..... my thoughts are. It is a mixed bag.
It is especially hard since I am sick and can't exercise right now.
But... I shouldn't need to be exercising. I should be focusing on the food.
It is hard when you are so used to shoving snacks in your face. So I am focusing on not doing that LOL.
Focus on what you can do, today:

Tea/coffee
Water
Supplements
