Taking inspiration from @milkweedman again, and trying my hand at a mesh drawstring bag!
This is my handspun shetland wool, and z ply is untwisting just a little while i crochet, so its coming out softer than expected! A big win, coz i definitely overplyed a little. Im adoring how the colours are striping.
I loved the photos from milkweedmans bags, especially of the washed fleece in the bag, so hoping I can do something similar and get the clean wool off the dining table 😅

But I also made it up as I went a bit.
I used some random thread from my mother's stash and a 36 pegs loom. I didn't count how many rows I did, I just kept going until it looked ok. I didn't care about the handles so for finishing I did two rows on all pegs, then one row of triple knit on all pegs (for the ribbon to go through) then two more rows, then bind off.
Added the ribbon and it's done! Thought it was going to be small but it easily holds 8 apples and there's room for more.

A rare mesh bag made by the Whiting & Davis company in 1976.
This was part of the "Star Series" created by the company on their 100th Anniversary. Also included in the series Clark Gable, Renee Adoree and Marion Davis.
The series was only in production a short time and if memory serves was due to copyrights issues. I've seen the bag sold for between $400-$500 dollars at auction.

This darling old abtique purse dates to around late 1800s/ very early 1900. The frame of the bag features a star or snowflake design. Signed on frame rim side "ALPACCA", which is a name for a metal alloy also called German silver. The name "German silver" refers to its development by 19th-century German metalworkers. It is a copper alloy with nickel and often zinc, silver looking in colour, sometimes a bit warmer tone.. Also it is harder than silver which comes in handy for items of heavier use, like purses - they don't scratch as much and don't bend over time.
