Facebook announces face scanning to confirm you’re a human
Meta has announced ‘Facebook Verified,’ a new way for Facebook users to confirm they’re human by submitting a face scan.

“Facebook Verified is an optional badge you can have added to your profile that helps authenticate that you’re a human being.”
This is because AI has gotten so good at pretending to be human, that it’s getting harder to catch
“To get the badge on your profile, which resembles a checkmark, Facebook requires a facial verification process.
Based on screenshots, the process looks very similar to the iPhone’s Face ID setup flow.”
Per Meta, it’s a “simple selfie-based process.
You record a short video selfie, which we check against your existing profile photos to confirm a match.
The process is free and typically takes just a few minutes.”
“Once you’ve been verified, your badge will display in a variety of places on Facebook.
These include your Profile, Marketplace, Dating, and Groups. And later on, Facebook says it will be added to posts in the Feed as well.
You have to be 18 years or older to qualify for Facebook Verified and be in good standing with the platform’s Community Standards.”
Now we have another reason not to use Facebook...

If you sign up for Threads, the Meta-owned Twitter alternative, it is connected to Instagram. If you decide you don't like Threads, you cannot delete it unless you delete your Instagram account.

The fact that Zuckerberg changed facebook’s corporate brand name to Meta makes it sound like he’s trying to be Musk and Besos. Also that some people genuinely think the term “Meta” means anything to literally anyone that makes up any of Facebook and Instagram’s main user base is laughable.
