I wish I were a painting
Stuck in time
Stuck in paint
In colours fixed
Frozen in place
On one plane
Fragile, carefully preserved
Yet art
Yet beautiful
Yet alive

Spectacular
Wearing my glasses upside-down
Doesn't change what I see through them.
The bright is just as bright,
The dark just as dark.
Until I see myself in the mirror.
Until I learn to laugh at myself.
And then something strange happens -
The world looks entirely different.

Ephialtes
The ghosts in my mind
Play a silent lullaby
Prancing in mad glee
To riotous memories
Pulling at the edges
Of nightmares entombed
Six feet under
The sentries surrender
Tired of fighting
Tired of staying
Holding the fort
With swords made of hope
Ghosts in my head
Won't let go of me
So do I
Let them in
To set me free?

Delirium
I want to
Hunt your mind.
Leave it bare, leave
Nothing to hide.
Shall I reap,
Shall I tear out,
The things that you keep
Inside?
'Cause I want to
Feel how you feel inside.
Connect the dots
On the inside of your eyes.
Raw and real,
Reveal, your fears
And I'll keep looking
Till I find.
Feel your mind,
Spinning around
In my hands
Inside and out.
Can you see
The rhythm that I dance to?
As I steal
Your sanity and mine.

Unfinished
She lies in bed,
Warm sweater and cold feet.
Pouring words onto a sheet,
That never came before.
Is this why people say,
Broken hearts make you live
Like there’s nothing to forgive?
Nothing to regret anymore.
So why do these words
Talk about him and not her?
This never-ending search for closure,
In her soul, a silent roar.
Sunrise, the words stop,
As Morpheus’ arms beckon.
Tears dry, pages flutter in abandon.
Paused, in unsettled score.

Apperception of Affection
[before]
You tell me,
That I smell of jasmines, like,
My skin is pure, untouched, undefiled.
You tell me,
That my hair smells like the strawberries that
You fed me in bed, that unending night.
You tell me,
That my lips taste of apples, the ones
That sit in my kitchen, and quietly conspire.
`
[after]
But honey, listen now.
My skin smells of coconuts,
And my hair of chemicals.
Not the ones that make you
Mistake mouthwash for apples.
Though you may sleep in my arms,
The past has yet to let go of you,
Or perhaps you, of the past.
But I, I exist now.
Until then.

Broken, Alive.
Death, too cold,
With truths untold.
A shiver, of sorrow.
No tomorrow.
Not forgotten.
Beseech, eyes sodden.
Remembrance, at ease.
Forever, in peace.
~PM
Filigreed
I look at you
through strands of wet hair,
wondering if
the parts I can't see
are the scars
you can't leave behind.
