I was able to finish these for the first day of Mer-May - the shining moon of the depths, Ceadeus!
Ok, so ol' beardy isn't a mermaid,, but I've wanted to draw proper art of this guy for ages and decided I'm gonna do it this year's Mermay. Welllll also only default Ceadeus is the proper one I drew, Goldbeard I just tweaked the hue and copy-pasted the horn lol but I was never gonna finish this and I still have a couple of characters I want to start drawing this month. I will try to give Goldbeard justice the next time I draw.
I was so happy to see Ceadeus's theme was among the top voted tracks and definitely deserved, the boss theme and atmosphere of this fight is top-notch. Sadly, we'll probably never fight Ceadeus again...unless Wilds brings back underwater now that Lagiacrus is also coming back soon, but I doubt it.
Speaking of Lagi, I initially planned this Ceadeus to be like my Lagi art last year that's detailed, but still chibi, but I ended up drawing Ceadeus to be more realistic. I'm happy with what I was able to do, but hopefully I can draw a cuter Ceadeus next time.
Oh - and since it happens both regular and Goldbeard Ceadeus have colors similar to the aroace flag, I decided to add it to these versions. I find it nice that my most favorite monster (Lagiacrus) and my most favorite Elder Dragon (Ceadeus) are both marine creatures and share the colors of the aroace flag :>
One last thing I enjoyed about Ceadeus is the fact that the Moga hunter doesn't actually need to kill this guy, and in fact the closing cinematic for Tri just has Ceadeus swim off peacefully, now that its troublesome horn has been cut off. It's one of the, if not the only Elder Dragon whom the Hunter actively helps out to close the story and I think it's neat. Though stabbing this guy in the head with a Dragonator and trimming his beard probably hurt like hell for the poor thing...
