So I wrote a little bit more of the main story last night and now that I’m re reading it I don’t know how to feel about it. I think maybe once I write the beginning I’ll end up rewriting this part.
I don’t know why I decided to write it in different sections 🤷♀️
The Blackout. A considerably underground bar tucked away in an old warehouse, windows blocked and tinted. Covered in posters for upcoming musicians. A small pink neon sign hung just above the door. Inside, the haze of cigarette smoke, cheap liquor, and the ever pulsing beat of disco music filled the room. It reeked of cheap thrills and bad decisions, as it often did. But for Bodhi? It was home. Familiar.
“Hey Maven. The usual?” Rory said from behind the bar, already wiping down a glass for him with a rag. “Boone’s farm?”
“Strawberry Hill.” Bodhi nodded, leaning against the bar.
“You do know we have better drinks here, right?” She raised an eyebrow, pouring the artificially light pink liquid into the wine glass.
Bodhi had simply shrugged, his fingers wrapping around the thin neck of the glass and brought it to his lips. It was a sickly sweet sort of taste. Obviously cheap, but good. “I’ll probably come by for a Mad Dog later, and if the night’s goin’ a bit slow I’ll likely need a thunderbird.”
“Yeahh yeah, whatever you say Maverick.” Rory was already serving the next drunkard.
Bodhi moved to lean up against a pillar, nursing his drink. Swirling it in his hand before taking another sip. The crowd of men dancing in the dim light created a carefree atmosphere.
Men in all kinds of clothing, some dabbled in a bit of leather, bomber jackets despite the hot summer heat. Others in denim, like himself. A loose button down.
It had been another easy night as Bodhi bobbed his head to the rhythm of Get Down Tonight. A relatively new hit that had been released on the radio, which was swiftly followed by Never Can Say Goodbye.
Though, a slight pang hit him in the pit of his stomach as he watched people partner up. He couldn’t quite pinpoint why.
He cleared his throat, throwing his head back as he downed the rest of his drink in one gulp. Tonight was no time for complicated feelings. So his eyes resumed the hunt.
There was no need for subtlety here anyways. The crowd was filled with horny men dancing and laughing closely together. There was no harm in looking. They were free here. They could be free here.
Eventually Bodhi’s eyes landed on the new regular from just across the room. He’d just recently started coming to the bar, mainly on Saturdays when the bar had open mic nights, lingering around the bar when their set was over. But this was a Friday night, and he’s here alone. None of his band mates were to be seen.
‘Hm. He’s certainly tall.. nice shag on his shoulders.’ Bodhi thought to himself as his eyes roamed lower, noting the piece of fabric hanging from the man’s right pocket. However, Bodhi couldn’t tell the color.
As Bodhi’s eyes drifted back upward, he soon met eyes with this stranger. A slow yet sharp striking smile pressed to the man’s lips.
Bodhi swallowed instinctively. His throat suddenly dry as a slight shiver went down his spine. Despite being across the room, Bodhi could feel just how piercing this man’s gaze was.
‘He could be fun..’ he thought.
Bodhi held the man’s gaze for a beat, then a beat longer before the man had begun weaving between the many bodies until he stood right in front of him. Bodhi’s heart pounded in his chest.
“Hey,” the tall stranger says, low and warm. “I’ve seen you around here before.”
“Yeah, you’re typically with your mates though. You’re in that band, the bassist right?” Bodhi tilted his head slightly.
“Yeah but sometimes I do vocals too.” The man leaned in a bit, “You should come by tomorrow. Check us out.”
He’d unsubtly looked Bodhi up and down real slow, once and once over again, making Bodhi shiver again.
“You might see me there.” Bodhi let out a low chuckle.
“Great.” The man bit his bottom lip a bit, drawing Bodhi’s attention. “What’s your name by the way?”
“Bodhi. Bodhi Maverick.” Bodhi offered his free hand. Truthfully, he was a little bit more than excited to get his hands on this rather alluring stranger.
“Micheal Murray. It is a..great pleasure to meet you, Bodhi Maverick.” Micheal shook his hand, his grip considerably firm, fingers a bit coarse. Bodhi wasn’t complaining though.
“So, Micheal, what are you tryin’ to get up to tonight?” Bodhi asked smoothly.
“Oh I dunno, ‘was hoping you could use some…company.” Micheal’s arm rested on the pillar beside Bodhi’s head, leaning in just a bit further.
“I’m down for a little nightcap..” Bodhi brought his hand to twirl a piece of Micheal’s hair between his fingertips. Testing the waters.
Micheal’s grin grew even bigger, his posture open as he leaned in closer, his breath tickling Bodhi’s ear, brushing against his neck, “Wanna go out back?”
Bodhi was hyper aware of his breathing, their chests nearly brushing against each other as Micheal pulled back just enough. Bodhi’s eyes dart between Micheal’s features, like the prominent blue of his eyes and the slight chapped fullness of his lips. The curve of his jaw and slope of his nose.
Then, with great herculean restraint, instead of leaning in, Bodhi gently grabs Micheal’s arm and leads him towards the back door of the bar. The buzz of the loud disco music thumped in his ear, matching the racing of his heart as he brushed past grinding bodies. Empty wine glass long forgotten on the floor somewhere.
Pushing open the back exit door, Bodhi welcomed the cool breeze, his skin prickling. Though, whether it was from the wind or because of the man he was leading was unclear.
When Bodhi let go, he turned to face Micheal, who had closed the door behind him with his heel. It was much darker in the alleyway. Nothing but a simple singular overhead light, which had been buzzing and flickering repeatedly. It had just been bright enough for Bodhi to see Micheal’s silhouette, yet he could no longer see any of those prominent features. Even still, he could feel those striking eyes tracing every inch of his body.
Micheal took a step closer, Bodhi took a step back.
He continued until Bodhi’s back hit the neighboring wall, Micheal’s rough hands settling on Bodhi’s hips. “This okay?” Micheal asked hoarsely, his voice deep and low.
“Just fine..” Bodhi answered, his hands wandering over Micheal’s chest, slowly, teasingly descending down towards the buckle of his belt.
Micheal’s breathing hitched a bit, Bodhi’s blood immediately rushing south. ‘Oh, this was so happening.’ Bodhi grinned to himself as he swiftly switched positions, brushing Micheal up against the brick wall. Wedging his thigh between his legs, pushing gently. Insistently.
Micheal let out a rough groan, his hand burying itself at the base of Bodhi’s curly blond locks, gripping tightly as he pulled him into a deep kiss.
Messy and uncoordinated at first before Bodhi tilted his head to the side a bit, getting a better and more comfortable angle.
Micheal groaned again, softer this time as his hand gripped at Bodhi’s waist.
Bodhi’s knee had continuously teased the new apparent bulge in Micheal’s black jeans. Making it more prominent by the second. “Open up for me..”
And as commanded, Micheal spread his legs just a bit, soft breathy sounds escaped him “fuck, and here I thought you were shy..”
Bodhi let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. “Nah..just didn’t want to overwhelm you, y’know. Is this okay?” Bodhi leaned back in, kissing Micheal deeply, thoroughly as his tongue delved past his lips.
Micheal’s hand drifted further down just a bit, his hand resting on the curve of Bodhi’s ass as he let out another soft, almost needy sort of whimper. His hips subtly moved against Bodhi’s thigh. The hand buried in Bodhi’s hair gripped just a bit tighter, pulling him closer. It sent a wonderful little sensation down Bodhi’s spine.
“I want-..I need..” Micheal panted, chest heaving as he pulled away, fumbling his words just a bit.
And that’s where I fell asleep cuz of my headache.
I feel like I got overly freaked out quickly and idk if I should keep it or change it or rewrite it. I think maybe the pacing is too fast but I dunno
