Yesterday, I waited for your friends to walk away so I could say just what I mean.
-----
My friends waved me a goodbye, not after winking at me with a mischievous glint in their eyes. I rolled my eyes, waved back.
"Hi."
I whirled around. "God, you surprised me." He finally got the balls to talk to me, eh?
He gave me a sheepish smile. "I didn't mean to startle you."
"It's fine," I shrugged. "Were you waiting for me?"
"Err, was I that obvious?" I smiled at him. "I was...." he paused, as if he was not sure if he should continue. "I was wondering if you have plans tomorrow?"
I shook my head. "No plans. I'm a homebody." I waited him to say the words but he just stared at me. "So, are you going to ask me out?"
"Huh?" He looked puzzled for a moment. When my words finally sank in, he immediately answered, "Ah, yes. yes. I mean, yes, I'd love to. Do you want? Oh, god. I'm blabbering, ain't I?"
He's clearly nervous. Cute. "You are."
He bit his lip. "Sorry."
"It's okay. I need to go now, though. That's my mom's car." I started to walk away from him but stopped after a few steps. "Wait." I ambled back to him, took my pen from my bag and grabbed his hand. I scribbled my number on his open palm "Text me the time and place for tomorrow. See yah."
"Honey! can you please make it fast? Your dad is waiting at the mall!" My mom hollered from the car.
"Coming, Mom!"
