For anyone new to the area or unfamiliar with the Copperhead, here's a little data: • I found this ball of fun in some brush I was cleaning up two days ago. It's mating season and the males will travel long distances. They're also very tolerant of habit changes, so you can expect to find them just about anywhere. They primarily forage at night and bask in the sun during the day near rocks, coiled in ambush postures, etc. It's common to see them on roads around here. Their venom is not very potent, and death is very rare in humans (except small children). Females will birth up to twenty in late summer. Juveniles have a bright yellow tail tip that they wiggle to attract prey (it will catch the attention of cats). Humans generally get poked by them when they try to kill them.
