I am so happy to finally be sharing my new creature discovery with you, took me along time but its finally here.
Through my research, I have found that what we are dealing with is a species of mimic known commonly as a "Mimic Ore" due to their appearance resembling a chunk of metal ore. They are an invasive species from the fae realm originally created by the dark Faeries for warfare, they would infiltrated them into an enemies territories to cause confusion, and with their appetite for anything containing metal, cripple their armories in the ensuing chaos.
They could even be tamed to a degree as tales speak of dark faeries training these mimics to act as swords or shields that could morph depending on the situation. A formidable weapon to be sure, but with one fatal weakness, if exposed to magic, these mimics loose their ability to shape-shift and become incredibly agitated. To this day, it remains as one of the only ways to reveal these mimics.
Once knowledge of this weakness was made widespread, precautions were made to identify and dispose of the mimics, which then lead to them being abandoned by the dark faeries, releasing them in the wilds as failed experiments, becoming the invasive species they are now know as.
A Second Chance
Despite their aggressive appearance and original purpose, I have found them to be very loyal when trained and will imprint on those it interacts with most frequently, becoming very friendly and docile. I believe they will make great pets for this reason. If I can continue to search for them, perhaps I can find people who will give theses creatures a happy ending to their tragic tale.
