Bandai Japan Announces Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, and Memetchi Mini Pouches
More merch, this time, mini pouches! Bandai Japan has just announced new Mametchi, Kuchipatchi, and Memetchi mini pouches will be available nationwide in Japan at fancy good stores starting in early June, 2024!
The Mametchi pouch is blue and of course features Mametchi with some hearts and musical notes, you’ll also see Mametchi written in Japanese. The Memetchi pouch is pink and features hearts and stars, and Memetchi written in Japanese. Lastly, the Kuchipatchi pouch is yellow and features musical notes and stars, as well as Kuchipatchi written in Japanese.
These pouches are adorable and are very convenient for storing small items, they even come with a ball chain so you can attach it to your bag and carry it around.
So I’m a fan of small pouches that I can just throw into my bag. It’s one of my favorite accessories and I want you to understand why. If you’re someone who loves to be organized or just prefer keeping certain things separated from the rest of your bag, then you’ll understand my love for these pouches.
I personally have a mini collection at home that vary in designs, styles and sizes, all which I’ve purchased over the years from artists from artist alley at either Anime Expo or Stan Lee’s LA Comic Con (formerly known as Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo). Others that aren’t designed by fans are basic pouches that I’ve gotten from make-up bags or travel accessories.
And if you’ve used these pouches, no matter the size or style, you probably understand my love for these pouches.
First off, here’s one of my pouches. I got this at LA Comic Con back when it was still being called Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo, so this shows how long I’ve loved these pouches.
Anyways, let me break this down for you guys:
Great quality
If you buy fan made designed pouches at any convention, you’ll know these mini bags are top quality for fan made bags. These artists work hard to find people to help produce their product at the best quality they can provide so that they can prove that their products are just as great as their art.
Plus, the fabric used are durable and are meant to withstand a lot that happens in a bag. So if you put bottles with liquids in your bag, these are pretty great at protecting the items inside the bag from getting wet.
Except, you should know that they aren’t 100% water resistant nor are they completely resistant to steins, they’re still pretty good since the fabric is a polyester style fabric.
Just know that while it isn’t 100% water resistant, most polyester style bags do have a nice double lining so that means you have your outer layer that has the design of the bag and then the inner lining, which is another layer of fabric. Trust me when I say, that’s really good because I’ve had accidental spills in my bag before ranging from water condensation to lotions opening up to hand sanitizers popping open.
ORGANIZATION!!
If you’re a person who loves to keep things separated, these bags are definitely the ones for you. Honestly, I’m the type of person that’ll have a bag with bags inside my bag because I try to keep a lot of stuff separated. I keep my notebooks, pens and highlighters in one while make-up and basic small essentials in a smaller case and a third for electronics (portable charger, wall plug, cable, headphones, etc.).
If you get lucky enough to find an artist who sells smaller pouches for coins, these bags are actually great for more than just a money pouch. I’ve used it for when I switch bags that doesn’t have any pockets inside. I’ve literally thrown my chapstick, eyedrops, contacts case and hair ties in them without worrying I’d lose them after 20 minutes of pulling something out of my bag.
Fan appreciation
I know there are a lot of people out there that can’t show their fan appreciation due to work restrictions. We can have all these awesome fan gear but can’t use or wear them on a daily. I know I can’t due to my work’s dress code. While I do have cute earrings that show my fandom for Doctor Who, not everyone can see them nor know what they are.
These bags, if you get them from conventions that is, are great to show your fandom. Besides keeping them in your bag, I sometimes carry mine around just because. It’s small and compacted enough that it works like a mini clutch. And if I don’t want to use the mini ones, the coin pouch versions are great just for carrying small objects that you can pop into any bag or slip into your pocket.
If you’re not convinced yet, you definitely should consider getting one and seeing what you could do with it. And just know, there are more than just the type of bags with zippers on them. There really are pouch versions that are just draw string bags.
Zipper vs Drawstring Pouches
So my last point before I end this post is that there are plenty of different pouches that you guys can turn to. I’m a bigger fan of the zip bags but if you come across drawstring bags, those are great too.
Drawstring bags don’t have the double protected lining that zipper pouches do, but they’re cute and can be used as a normal bag because a lot of the time, the drawstring portion works like a handle. For the two drawstring bags that I have, I bought them from an artist at Anime Expo a few years ago where they made lunch bags for Japanese style bento boxes to be put in the bags. While I do have bento boxes that could go in there, I’ve never really used it for that purpose.
Just like with my other bags, it was a great pouch to use to divide my items when I needed it. But this pouch also worked wonderfully when I didn’t want to carry a lot and just needed a small amount of items when I went out in. I used it like a mini handbag/purse if anything. The zipper pouches are great to walk around with but if you get tired of holding it, there’s really nothing more you can do. You’re forced to carry it in your hand or arms at all times. The drawstring pouches are great to just dangle off of my wrist, and if it was light enough, I would just tie it to my belt or belt loop.
