Miphlinkweek 2022 - DAY 3 - SATORI MOUNTAIN
I nearly skipped that day and in the end it turned out to be one of my favourite pieces ever! Thank you Lipha’s Domain Discord for being so encouraging :) My headcanon is, once Link is comfortable with someone, he tends to be really playful and flirty

Big thank you to the Lipha’s Domain discord for helping come up with and vote on prompts for this year. And a special thanks to @enienah for letting us use their wonderful art for the background this year.
Mipha stood perfectly balanced on one foot, the other hesitantly hovering over the water. “Are you sure about this?”
Link nodded.
Mipha sighed. “But… but is it too hot?”
Link reached a hand out invitingly.
Biting her lip, Mipha slowly took his hand in her own, letting him guide her into the water. The instant her foot touched it she flinched and jumped back. “I don’t know, Link—”
“Mipha,” he cut in quietly. “It’s hot outside the water. Your scales are drying. Come on.”
His fiancée watched the water bubble as if it were a cooking pot waiting to boil her alive. Link would almost find it funny if it weren’t for the fact that her skin was nearly burning at this point. She needed to get in the water. They weren’t dangerously close to Death Mountain for a Hylian, but a Zora couldn’t handle the environment much longer.
It was honestly a miracle she had lasted this long. They had all been summoned by Daruk when a horde of beasts had appeared out of nowhere, and though Link was fairly certain he could have taken the majority of them, they were admittedly too spread out for even him to handle alone. Everyone had been called in, and Mipha had more than happily answered. She always wanted to help her friends whenever she could. Also, it gave them a chance to spend time together, and neither half of the couple was going to argue about that. It was late at night now, Zelda was in bed and safely protected by Urbosa and the many soldiers everyone had brought to the fight, which gave Link chance to have some personal time.
Of course, if Mipha continued to balk at the idea of the hot spring, he might have to spend his time worrying incessantly instead of relaxing.
Biting his tongue, Link stood in the spring and held out both arms this time. Mipha watched him anxiously, but she slowly walked towards him. When she reached down to hold his hands, he stepped forward to wrap one arm around her back just under her shoulders, and the other under her knees, pulling him to his chest. He carried her gently, and though she gasped slightly at the change in position, she held him comfortably and relaxed as they started to slowly sink into the water together.
Link smiled at her as he dipped her in only slightly. “See? Not that bad.”
Mipha hummed in relief, leaning her head on his shoulder.
He sank further until he was sitting on a rock under the water with her resting on his lap. Mipha sighed contently. By this point the blush had faded from her cheeks and they were both comfortable in each other’s embrace, no longer shying away from it. It was… nice. Familiar. Comforting.
“Not bad,” Mipha echoed softly, her eyes closed. Link let out a small huff of a laugh at her.
“You fought well,” Mipha continued.
Link gave her a gentle squeeze. You too.
Sighing, she shifted slightly to get more comfortable. “Thank you. I just… wish we didn’t have to see each other under these circumstances. But I want to do my part… I asked Daruk if we could train tomorrow. I want to be able to hold my own.”
Link kissed her forehead. Honestly, as if she couldn’t already hold her own. Mipha was a formidable warrior. But he wouldn’t deny her desire to improve herself – he too was fueled by it. He constantly practiced and sparred. They couldn’t be too prepared, after all. He wanted to do right by those who believed in him.
“Just promise me you’ll meet me here tomorrow night, then?” Link asked softly. He didn’t want her to overheat, and he would take any excuse to spend time with her.
Mipha made a small noise of acknowledgement. Link leaned down, wanting to ensure she would actually follow through and not overexert herself, when she suddenly let out a soft snore. Link blinked, caught off guard that she had fallen asleep so quickly, even more stunned that she had snored. Mipha was poise and grace personified. To hear the little rumbling purring out of her throat… he had to bite his cheek to stop himself from laughing.
