Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk -- gotta love Chuck’s work, this is a selection of short stories found in the YA section at Bookfest (which was great considering the Parental Advisory sticker).

Blossoms and Shadows by Lian Hearn -- a stand-alone (how rare) historical novel based in Feudal Japan much like her other books.

A Crucible of Souls by Mitchell Hogan -- Book one in a fantasy series. Who knows, I bought it because of the ships on the cover.

The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre -- A suspense, thriller. Came home to be told “You’re gonna be scarred for life.” Can’t wait! 

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller -- Greek history? Hell yeah! It’s been on my to-read-list for a while now.

STARTED READING: Just started reading Mitchell Hogan's 'Incursion', part 1 of The Necromancer's Key series. Started off well, so I'm looking forward to moving through some sword and sorcery!

Dawn of the Exile by Mitchell Hogan. A great sequel to his previous Shadow of the Exile. Tarrik is back and his problems seem to only be getting more interesting. I had a hard time putting this book down and greatly anticipate reading what happens in the future.

Shadow of the Exile by Mitchell Hogan

Shadow of the Exile by Mitchell Hogan, I really enjoyed this book, well written and from the viewpoint of the being summoned.  He is summoned to protect her against his will, and winds up learning that in order to save himself he may have to save humanity.

Another week begins.  I quickly slip into my business suit and head back into the office to save a few innocent people. But while I try to fool myself into being excited about the promise of a new year and the continuation of the regular grind, deep down, I’m not, so I’m going to escape dreary reality by reading some great books.
