Hi Feng! I really like the way you write about the linkuei and your thoughts on these characters. I wanted to ask you a few questions about Kuai-Liang Scorpion. How do you think he feels about his scar? Do you think he wouldn't care or does he just feel insecure sometimes?
Thank you <3
Hello! Thank you for your kind words. ^^
Regarding Kuai Liang in mk1 and his atemporal scar. This time given by his own older brother, visibly as a punishment for his disobedience…
I believe that the scar signifies the breaking of the brotherhood between him and Bi-Han. Of course, he will always call him brother, just as Bi-Han will always call Kuai Liang his brother, because the blood bond between them is indelible and immutable. However, it is clear in the story mode and intros that the scar for him is a reminder of the hurt that Bi-Han caused him. Especially since Kuai Liang and Cyrax (who was once very close and still is close to Kuai Liang) mention the scar caused by Bi-Han, along with letting his father die and betraying Earthrealm by allying with OutWorlders in exchange for a false promise of a leadership position in Earthrealm as the worst things Bi-Han has done:
So yes, he is definitely not indifferent towards his scar. If there is any insecurity about his appearance because of the scar, it is not made clear. Probably yes, since it is a source of great tribulation for him and he probably has to avoid his own reflection so as not to have to see it.
Judging by the way Kuai dresses and carries himself, he is definitely not vain as Bi-Han. However, I believe that anyone would feel insecure about their appearance having a huge scar across their face like Kuai Liang has. Especially since it's not from birth and it wasn't something he got because he wanted it. He was simply forced to live with it. And it's too recent to assume that he's already gotten used to it.
