hello. i saw your posts on the arfid tag and i wanted to ask, are there like different severity levels to arfid? because i see so many people with much bigger difficulties with food than me and now i'm doubting whether i have it at all
First of all, there are different severity levels to basically everything. Even I doubted for months whether I had ARFID or whether my issues were bad enough to qualify, even after I made this blog. I stopped doubting though because eating disorders affect everyone differently.
Some people with ARFID are neurodivergent.
Some people with ARFID are neurotypical.
Some people with ARFID only have a handful of different safe foods.
Some people with ARFID can have dozens of safe foods.
Some people with ARFID are underweight.
Some people with ARFID are overweight.
Some people with ARFID might get so bad they need to go to a hospital.
Some people with ARFID "only" lose a couple of pounds.
It's different for everyone. Just because you seem to suffer less than others doesn't mean that you don't qualify for having ARFID.
