I defended Jily and James specifically on Mugglecast this week via email, friends, but I don’t think the hosts responded adequately!!
Frustrated by fandom’s general Snape apologist tendencies. Which seems entrenched in the Mugglecast hosts who normally I find to be quite generous in their analysis. But in this case James is a bully with little to redeem him. Which is just…..ugh. Also, seems to completely undermine Lily’s agency and decision-making. If he sucked, why would she have married him?
Would love to have some other Jily fans write in to them in support and defense of Jily!!
Hey! Do you know if any ARMYs will be streaming bang bang con? I wanna watch, but it’s so expensive!
ahh I’m not so sure yet,,, idk if qdeoks is gonna be streaming it because all her sites are down,,, but i compiled a list of people i found that said they would be streaming it ☺️!!
JILY CHALLENGE APRIL | @wotcherpotter vs. @mollyraesly
TITLE: Bae-watch
PROMPT: “You’re the new lifeguard at the pool I go to, I’m going to impress you with a front-flip swan dive while you’re on duty and whoops it was so bad you tried to rescue me - this is embarrassing” AU

A/N: Hiyaaaa, this is my first time writing anything jily after reading it for several years. Title is corny as hell, and most of this one shot is but I happen to think corny is one of the best genres.
Lily joined her family at the table for breakfast on the first Sunday of her summer break. She had always been the last to rise, a trait that had only become more prominent the older she grew. The sun shone through the window and danced on the fiery red of her hair, warming her shoulders. Two slices of toast were placed on the table in front of her mother, and Lily eagerly thanked her whilst she spread several layers of jam on each. Her sister, Petunia, looked at her across the table with disdain. Lily poked her tongue in retaliation. She caught her eye with her father over the top of the paper, and could just make out the hint of a smile from the crinkles by his eyes.
Lily picked up the entertainment section of the paper that her father had left for her on the table. She was flicking through the pages aimlessly, when a small advert in the corner of one of the pages caught her eye. Queen were scheduled to perform at a venue closeby towards the end of the summer. Lily nearly fell out of her seat in excitement. She ran to the kitchen where the phone was on the hook, and dialled the number of her best friend. Lily tapped her foot impatiently, and curled the cord around her finger whilst she waited. After a few rings, someone at the other end finally picked up.
“McKinnon residence, this is Michael,” a deep voice answered.
“Hi Mike, it’s Lily. Is Marlene awake yet? Actually, I doubt she is but this is extremely important, can you go get her, pleeeeeeease?” Lily tried her sweetest, most persuasive voice.
She needn’t have bothered, as Mike would take any opportunity to annoy his older sister. He didn’t say a word to Lily, but she could here the yelling as he jumped on her in bed. There was a kerfuffle when someone picked up the receiver, and then Marlene’s voice was finally at the other end of the line.
“This better be good.”
“My dearest friend, I would never wish such ill fortune on you if it wasn’t of paramount importance,” Lily teased.
“Oh, spit it out. I’m hungry now that I’ve risen from my beauty sleep, and I can smell bacon in the kitchen.”
“Queen is coming to Cokeworth!” Lily squealed.
“Are you pulling my leg?” Marlene said grumpily.
“I wouldn’t dream of it when it comes to Queen, Marls. What do you take me for? Some kind of ignoramus?” Lily giggled down the end of the receiver.
“You are far too chirpy for this ungodly hour.”
“It’s past ten,” Lily deadpanned.
“Ha ha. So how are we going to get tickets?” Marlene questioned.
“Well, I got offered that job at the pool over the summer. Have you heard anything from the library yet?” Lily bit into her second piece of toast as she asked, and crumbs littered the top of er pyjama shirt.
“Nothing yet. Though I think that has something to do with the fact that Mrs Pince just has it our for me. I swear the old bat detests anything that’s not a book,” Marlene complained.
Lily could practically hear the sound of Marlene’s eyes rolling through the receiver. Before she could respond, her sister appeared in the doorway of the kitchen, signalling to Lily that she wanted to use the phone as well. Lily put her hand over the receiver and looked at Petunia with irritance.
“What is it, Tuney?” Lily moaned.
“I’m expecting a call from Vernon any minute, I need you to get off the phone. Now,” she said with finality.
“Why should I? Your phone calls aren’t any more important than mine.”
“Grow up Lily, just give me the-”
“No, I’m not finished talking to-’
“Girls!” A new voice shouted.
It was their mother, and an unnaturally stern look painted her features. Silence reigned throughout the kitchen, as their bickering had ceased. Lily instantly felt guilty for being ridiculous. She knew money was tight at the moment for her parents, and she usually did everything she could to keep that stress as low as possibly. There was just something about her sister that got under her skin.
“I’ve got to go Marls. Meet me at the pool later for my first shift.” Lily said, hanging the phone back on the hook on the wall.
She avoided making eye contact with her sister as she walked out of the kitchen, as she didn’t think she could bear the smugness that had inevitably crossed her bony face. She trudged back upstairs to her bedroom to get ready for the day. She reminded herself that she was getting out of the house and away from her sister, and she was being paid for it, and didn’t feel so bad at all.
****
When Lily arrived at the pool later that day, there were people everywhere. She couldn’t say she too surprised - this summer was expected to be the hottest on record - but it was slightly overwhelming when your first day working as a lifeguard was for a pool with hundreds of people. She tried to put her nerves away with the rest of the things in her locker. She had managed to bring her heart rate back down to a normal pace, and started to walk out the building to the pool.
“Alright, Evans?” A familiar voice called out to her.
She froze. She knew exactly who that voice belonged to, and up until very recently the owner had been the bane of her existence. Some higher being must really hate her, because now the sound of that voice was enough to turn her legs to jelly. She could picture him now; his golden skin contrasting with the jet black mess of his hair, a gleeful grin ever-present on his face. No doubt the rest of the Marauders as they called themselves were in tow, and Lily was all alone with no one to keep her upright should she faint. She of course, couldn’t admit defeat and let him know that she had a soft spot for him, she didn’t want to look like a fool after all these years of loathing him. She realised too late that several minutes had passed without her saying anything, standing frozen in the middle of the entryway to the pool like a deer in the headlights.
“Er - Are you actually alright, Lily? You seem a bit pale,” James said, concerned lacing his tone.
“Haven’t you noticed that before? Maybe you need some new glasses, Potter,” she snipped, walking off to the patrol tower.
“What did you say this time, Prongs?” She heard someone say, Remus, if she had to guess.
She blocked the rest of the conversation out, as she was trying to calm her nerves again. So, not only was she now dealing with an overfilled pool on her first day, she now had to overcome the distraction that was James Potter. And what a distraction he had recently proven to be.
Lily perched herself atop the lifeguard tower, doing her best to oversee the visitors to the pool. Hers had a mind of their own, and kept drifting back to the area where James and co. had positioned themselves. She watched as he took his shirt off, and nearly fell the couple of metres off the tower. She had never really noticed before, but apparently being captain of their school’s football team had a couple of perks (other than everyone in the school wanting to be your best mate). Unfortunately, she was caught in the act by the only other person she loathed more than Potter: Severus Snape.
She couldn't even understand what he was doing there at the pool; he hated the sun, people and swimming. Surely the local pool during summer was his own personal hell. She could see his snarl from across the pool, as he followed the path of her eyes to where she’d just been staring. She watched as he made his way over to her, and rolled her eyes. She knew exactly what was coming. Where was her best friend to save her from all these dastardly men?
“Whatever happened to ‘Potter is an arrogant toerag I want nothing to do with?” She heard him yell from the bottom of the tower.
“Leave me alone, Sev,” she sighed.
“You’re practically salivating watching him take his shirt off, just like every other girl in our year,” he snarled.
She had had enough. She climbed down, fuming as she went. He was slightly taller than her, and when she was on the ground she had to look up at his waxy skin to catch his eye.
“I told you to leave me alone. I don't want anything to do with you anymore, Sev. You made your choice; I can't be friends with someone like you anymore.” She was stern, not showing a trace of weakness.
“What's going on over here then, Snivelly?” a new voice sounded from behind her.
Lily felt her heart jump into her throat. James had walked up beside her whilst she was preoccupied. Any coherent thought and had flown the window, and all she was worried about was whether or not she had remembered to brush her hair. That was until she remembered the scenario in which he had entered, and her temper flared.
“I don't need you fighting my battles, Potter,” she said, nostrils flaring.
She saw Severus roll his eyes.
“You know me, Evans, I’ll take any excuse to to knock Snivelly down a few pegs,” James said.
He was smiling, but it didn’t reach his eyes in the way that made her melt. It was more of a snarl, and it left a bitter taste in her mouth. She turned back to Snape, her arms folded.
“In case you haven’t noticed, I’m trying to work. Both of you, leave me alone now.”
She climbed back up the tower, thus ending the conversation. She was suddenly hyper-aware of the close proximity between her butt on the ladder and James’s head. A blush fanned across her cheeks, and she was thankful neither of them could see her face.
Back up in the safety of her tower of solitude, she watched over the pool. Sev eventually left the pool, relieving her of at least some of the stress of the day. For a brief period, there were no incidents; that was until, James decided to make use of the pools facilities. She watched from the tower, as he walked around to the diving board. He climbed, surpassing the 3ft board; he kept climbing, past the 6t board; until he eventually reached the board 9ft above the pool. She followed his eyes to where his friends were sitting; they were all egging him on, thumbs up and cheering. Lily rolled her eyes. All four of them were idiots.
Her head snapped back when she heard the creak of the board bounce. It didn’t sound very sturdy at all, and all the muscles in Lily’s body tensed as she watched him. He lost his footing slightly on the last bounce, and fell into the water with a loud splash. Lily dove into the water in an instant. She kicked as fast as she could, her heart racing. How could be be so STUPID, she thought angrily. A stream of bubbles followed her to where James was still sinking to the bottom. She lugged him up to the top, and they both spluttered and gasped for air.
“Alright, Evans?” James asked.
His ever-present grin was plastered across his face, though Lily thought she saw a pinkish tinge to his cheeks. It was probably the only time in her life she had seen his hair flat, though he wasted no time in messing it up again.
“What were you trying to do, you giant idiot!” Lily shrieked in reply.
“It’s not my fault the diving board is a hundred years old!” He remarked, incredulously.
“It doesn’t take a genius to think twice before using it then, does it James?” She rebutted.
“Lucky I have you here to save me from being a bellend then,” he said, softly this time.
“How am I supposed to always save you from being a bellend, James? That’s a 24 hour job and when would I get time to sleep?”
“You and Remus can take it in turns, I expect.”
“You drive me mental, you know that right?” She said, exasperated.
“I’d have to be a bellend not to,” he said, smirking.
She splashed water in his face, taking him by surprise. His mouth gaped in shock, and she laughed with her whole body. He tackled her, wrapping his arms around her body so that she couldn’t get away. A shiver ran through her body, and her cheeks began to heat up again. He loosened his grip just enough so that she could turn to face him. A similar tinge of pink coloured his own cheeks, and it made her feel like jelly. He leant in, and her breath hitched in her throat. His lips touched hers ever so softly, and she could feel the warmth of his breath.
“Oi James, quit snogging and get back here we’ve got hot chips!” She heard Sirius’s voice yell.
She smiled against his mouth, and noticed a definite red spreading across James’s cheeks. He unfurled one of his arms around her, presumably to toss Sirius the finger as she heard him whoop with laughter and walk away. He kissed her again and she wrapped her arms around his neck, twirling her fingers in the curls at the nape of his neck.
“Think I can persuade you to watch over me?” James asked.
Lily pulled back, pursing her lips in feigned deliberation.
“You know my eyesight is shocking, so I can’t actually see whatever face you’re pulling. Your ethereal beauty is lost on me without my glasses,” he sighed.
Here is the charity fanfic for the most excellent @mollyraesly who requested Jon x Sansa! I hope you like it! Thank you so much for donating.
Sansa had to hand it to Jon; many beers into open mike night and he was committing to the chorus of Wonderwall, in all his guitar strumming glory.
“I…I have to go home with that,” she whispered, unable to pry her eyes away the current train wreck that was her boyfriend.
“Well, that’s your own damn fault,” Robb tutted unsympathetically, phone out and recording.
“You, very literally, made your bed” Arya said while flicking her fingers across her screen for maximum zoom. “Now you lay in it.”
Jon finished with a flourish and stalked off the stage, handing back the acoustic guitar back to the slightly more serious artist he had briefly stolen it from. He rejoined them—looking smug of all things.
Quite the turn around from the man who groaned, long and loud, when they walked in and saw the microphone and spare bar stool set up in the corner of the bar. Of course, Jon didn’t plan to perform, something he usually actively avoided. But they were out with Robb and Arya, who could convince Jon to do damn near anything, especially as the night wore on and the three of them had more and more to drink.
“Did ya see me out there?” Jon said with a satisfied grin.
“Oh, did we ever.”
“Poetry for the eye and ear, Snow.”
“Would you like some water, sweetie?” Sansa offered gently.
Jon waved her off. “Nah, beer’s fine for me.”
“Need to hydrate after all,” Robb said encouragingly.
“I do?” said Jon, looking very befuddled and cradling his beer.
Arya, grinning right beside him, added, “We await your encore.”
“You do?”
“Breathlessly.”
“Which makes it such a damn shame, but we need to go home,” Sansa interrupted, visions of embarrassment dancing through her head as she grabbed her man’s hand. “Like, right now.”
“But you’re our desig-designated driver,” Robb pouted, stumbling over the syllables.
Shooting her brother a look, Sansa huffed, “I think you lost the right to a free ride.” She then turned her gaze to her little sister. “And seeing how somebody is still a few months shy of legal, and shouldn’t be drinking at all, you should have the facilities to call a cab.”
“We’re leaving?” Jon said, just now realizing this fact and immediately joining Robb in pouting. “We just got here!”
“Jon, it’s past mignight,” Sansa said tersely.
“Aw man.”
Thankfully Jon wasn’t so forgone that he couldn’t walk, so with some gentle herding, she got him in the car, home, and even in pajamas, all without incident. Actually getting into bed, however, was where Sansa’s luck began to run out.
“God, you’re hot,” Jon mumbled.
“Aren’t you sweet,” Sansa said distractedly as she put a glass of water in one hand and some ibuprofen in the other.
“It’s just—” Jon paused to swallow the pills—“How? You are so out of my league.”
“You’re a good guy,” Sansa said, feeling a bit charmed, despite Jon currently being a drunken pain in the neck. She gave him a gentle shove to settle him into the pillows.
“But you’re really hot,” Jon protested, looking very concerned and not lying down at all.
“You can tell me all about it tomorrow.” Another shove, this time with a bit more force and he laid back onto the bed.
The very worried look didn’t leave his face as he watched Sansa climb in on her side, but he said no more, and was asleep in minutes.
***
Sansa never did like sleeping in on the weekends. It always just enough of a schedule change to throw her off come Monday. Ghost needed to go out first thing in the morning, anyway.
So, leaving Jon in the bedroom, Sansa took Ghost out for a short walk and then went to make herself breakfast. She was looking forward to a lazy Saturday at home, never changing out her comfy clothes, loafing around, cuddling her dog, watching tv, or reading a romance novel while her boyfriend, inevitably, whined and whimpered his way though a hangover.
There was a knock on the door, just as she was sitting down to eggs and toast. Sansa was going to just pretend to not be home to answer when her phone buzzed with a text from Robb, announcing himself.
“What are you doing here so early?” Sansa huffed, but let Robb, and Arya quick on his heels, inside.
Robb made great show of being hurt as Ghost greeted them, tail a-wagging. “Do I need a reason to see my own sister and bestest of friends?”
“Who are both conveniently located in the same apartment?” Arya added.
“Exactly!”
Sansa rolled her eyes. “After the night you had I’m surprised you’re up this early.”
“Compared to Jon I barely touched the stuff.” Robb looked about. “Speaking of which where is he? Still sleeping it off?”
Not waiting for an answer, Robb went back the bedroom, a sniggering Arya behind him.
“What are you doing?” Sansa had just sat back down, under the mistaken assumption that her siblings were actually going to talk to her. Her breakfast was getting cold. “Leave him alone!”
Before she could move from the table once again she was interrupted by—
“BECAUSE MAAAAAAYBEEEEEEE YOU’RE GONNA BE THE ONE THAT SAVES MEEEEEE”
Jon’s last night performance, in all it’s recorded glory.
“Oh lord…”
“AND AFTERAAAAAALLLLL YOU’RE MY WONDERWAAAAAALLLL.”
In stereo, even.
A great, lumbering mass came from the bedroom. It was Jon, wrapped up in their bed’s comforter and looking like someone’s babushka grandmother from the Old Country. Robb and Arya, phones held high, followed after him, gleeful. Jon looked rightfully victimized.
“Sansaaaa…. make them stop,” Jon said hoarsely.
“I SAID MAAAAAAAAAAYBBBBEEEEE”
“Cut it out you two,” Sansa snapped as she guided Jon to a chair.
He immediately slumped over. And then his head kept falling downwards, flopping on the tabletop, the comforter folding over his head like a floral hoodie. Sansa discretely tugged her eggs out the way of some excess fabric.
Robb sat down opposite of him, thankfully putting his phone away. Arya had propped herself up on the countertop.
“If you thought we were going to forget out this…”
With a comforting arm around the lump that was her boyfriend, Sansa shot her brother a murderous glare. “This was not necessary, and you know it.”
Robb managed to look contrite. “I know, I know, but it was so damn funny, Sansa. And since you and Jon actually got serious, he hasn’t made a jackass of himself over you in forever. I miss that entertainment.”
“Jon wasn’t making a jackass of himself—at least over me—last night!”
“Oh come on,” Arya said with a snort. “He so happens to get onstage after that hipster chatted you up for, like, ten minutes? And jacks the guy’s guitar to do it?”
“That guy wasn’t ‘chatting me up’ we were just talking. I was out with my boyfriend, my big brother and my little sister, for goodness’ sake.”
Arya rolled her eyes. “Yeah, talking about his music and what inspires him.”
“Beauty is what inspires me” Robb imitated in a pompous voice.
“Stringy-looking fucker,” the comforter grumbled. “Couldn’t even grow a proper beard”
“It was a weak beard” Arya agreed.
“Wait, I was there, I saw you guys encourage him.”
“Not saying we didn’t,” Robb said and held up hands in no contest. “But that idiot definitely set it off.”
“Alright, you know what,” Sansa said, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Get out, both of you. You’ve had your fun, you’ve made Jon all grumpy. Leave and let me try and get him back into bed.”
“Can we have some breakfast too?”
“Arya, if you and Robb don’t get out right now, the breakfast I’ll be giving you will be served up on a plate aimed at your heads.”
“Okay, okay, were leaving, yesh.”
***
It was a very quiet Jon that came out of the bedroom five hours later. Joining her and Ghost on the couch, he asked solemnly, “How big of a fool did I make of myself?”
“How do you want the news, with numbers or literary examples?”
“Plain numbers, please.”
“A solid four.”
“Just a four, really?”
“Aw, come on Jon” Sansa said, wrapping an arm around him. “You only over-enthusiastically sang a song. And I always said you have a nice voice.”
Jon just held his head in his hands and groaned.
“You didn’t even punch someone,” she continued cheerfully. “Not like that one time you punched Harry.”
“I was defending your honor.”
“My honor is not worth the nasty broken nose you got out of it.”
“It most certainly was,” Jon replied curtly.
Sansa decided to let the topic drop. She wasn’t in the mood to get into that old argument.
“Only thing that bothers me, was that you were apparently jealous. Am I not allowed to talk to other guys now?”
“What? No of course not, don’t be ridiculous,” Jon said and fell back into the couch.
“It’s just…” he mumbled. “There are times when it’s so clear to see that you could have done so much better than me. I’m not the kind of guy you went for.”
“Yeah, but—”
“And how I thought I dressed all right enough, until you started dressing me, and I started getting more callbacks from interviews.”
Sansa smiled at that. “Look good and feel good in what you’re wearing, and people do notice.”
“Well I know that now, but I remember laughing about it with Robb and Arya.”
“That went away as soon as they had someone they wanted to impress,” Sansa said, which made Jon laughed, if only a little before returning to frowning at himself.
“Remember that guy you punched?” she said, cuddling in close to Jon, who nodded. “Remember why?”
“He was yelling at you, in public, and saying horrible things to you, and I could see you shrinking back and… it just got to me.”
“Well, he was yelling at me because I caught him cheating, and by some gaslighting of the patriarchy, he was actually making me feel bad and blame myself. And before that it was Joffery, who was his own tier of terrible. And yes, those were the type of guys that I, for whatever misguided reason, went after: Looked great, treated me bad.”
Thinking about her old boyfriends made Sansa relish this moment with Jon all the more. True, Jon at this point could do with a shower, but it could wait a little longer. It didn’t take away from how warm and solid he felt holding her, how safe she was at this exact moment. For however stupid the reason was, if the extent of Jon’s jealous behavior was karaoke, she would gladly take it.
“Any day of the week, I would much rather have you— kind, considerate, and handsome to boot.” She gave him another squeeze. “Plus, I get the super fun project of dressing up all that handsome to look like an actual human being.”
Jon was finally smiling. “That last jab aside, all that flattery makes me wanna make out on the couch.”
Sansa paused, and drew away a little bit.
“I’m usually into that, but you have’t brushed your teeth in, like, over twenty-four hours.”
***
Sansa was having a very peaceful Sunday organizing her craft things when Arya called. Which should have served as warning enough of some oncoming trouble, as her sister preferred to communicate through monosyllabic texts unless absolutely necessary.
“Hello, how are y—”
“-Okay so something has happened and I need you to help me tell Jon so he doesn’t kill me.”
“What happened, are you alright?”
“I’m not hurt or anything, calm down.”
Sansa could hear her sister roll her eyes.
“Wait, why would Jon want to kill you,” she asked, going back to arranging her colored pencils chromatically now that she knew that Area wasn’t bleeding out or anything. “Don’t tell Robb, cause he’ll be a baby about it, but you’re totally his favorite.”
“Well, I was working on my mix media project with Gendry and wanted to show him the video—“
“Even though we asked you guys not to?” Sansa tutted. It seemed her strong worded texts had been for nought.
“Andweweretryingtomakesureourprojectwouldloadand—” Her sister’s voice was growing more and more panicked.
“Arya, slow down, what happened?”
There was a disconcertingly long beat of silence.
“I may have accidentally uploaded Jon’s video to the internet.”
Hey @petalstofish — thank you for this lovely ask!
I kind of totally forgot I posted that ask thing, so was so confused until I remembered!
G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
I mostly write from start to finish, especially when I was trying to get chapters out on a regular schedule. That being said, a lot of times I have general outlines in mind for scenes throughout the story. And sometimes I will jot down dialogue or specific moments that are for future chapters.
H: How would you describe your style?
It varies a bit. I’ve played around with style depending on the fic/fandom.
My BF trilogy is obviously very diary-esque. Stray—my Sirius story—is meant to be less is more, understatement.
I would say that consistently my stories are about character before plot and that I tend to write romances in which the characters have some coming-of-age or conflict that’s separate from that romance. And there’s usually some humor.
You are the main person I collaborate with, do you probably know better than I!
Thanks again for the ask!! When are we going to finish that Jily fic?
“The world is changed,” Old Nan would always begin the tale. “I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost; for none now live who remember it.”
Many of the Stark children would listen to the opening lines with rapt attention as she put down her knitting needles and began one of the North’s most told stories. But as they grew older, one by one they would begin to roll their eyes and maybe even leave the room to go riding or pursue some other worthwhile task like training at swords or sewing. But Bran never left; he always listened to the tale in full. The scary ones were his favorite. “Keep going, Nan,” he’d say.
“All right, little lord,” she’d comply with the continued click of her knitting needles.
“It began with the Children of the Forest. They had dwelled in the deep woods for untold ages, living off the land and carving faces into their weirwood trees. The Children made peace with the First Men...at first. But they were all of them deceived.
“For the men built permanent settlements and brought with them bronze weapons, great leathern shields, the first horses, and their own gods. And they cut down the Children’s trees.
“One by one the forests were felled for the sake of cities and fires, and the war began. The Children were outnumbered and losing strength with the loss of their magic and their trees.
“But there were some who resisted. They needed a weapon. A pack of Children found one of these men lingering in their forest and captured him. Leaf, the leader of the pack, plunged her obsidian dagger into the man’s heart and witnessed as his eyes turned blue and his skin transformed from flesh to ice. In that moment, the first White Walker was formed, the Night King, who would lead the army of the dead and bring about the Long Night.
“This would be a winter worse than all the rest. A winter when the snows fall a hundred feet deep, when the sun hides for years, and children are born and live and die, all in darkness. That is when the White Walkers move through the woods. Kings froze to death in their castles, same as the shepherds in their huts, and women smothered their babies rather than see them starve, and wept and felt their tears freeze on their cheeks. The White Walkers swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds...”
“All right, that’s enough,” Robb would usually interrupt.
“No!” Bran would protest. “Robb—Nan—please I want to hear the rest!”
“And wake up from nightmares about the Others in the middle of the night like I used to about the blue-eyed giant Mecumba? I think not,” Robb would reason with a good-natured laugh. “The White Walkers aren’t real, Bran. There is no Night King coming for us.”
But Robb was wrong; winter was coming and the dead with it. Not that Robb had lived long enough to see it. He’d died in the Twins with their mother when word of the return of the Night King and the Long Night were yet naught but whispers in the dark.
I know I’m kind of late to the game, but this movie was really bad, right?
Why wasn’t there more stuff with the circus? Who bothers to have circus characters and not show any acts (the Nagini bullshit still annoys me)?
The Leta character could have had more to do. I can’t believe JKR killed her off. Also, why didn’t someone just do a silencing charm on the baby? Or like Leta could have worn magic earmuffs. Switching babies seems so ridiculous.
I hated the way that Queenie and Jacob were introduced. Isn’t the whole Merope Gaunt storyline supposed to be about how awful love potions/enchantments are. How are we still supposed to like Queenie if she violates Jacob’s consent like that? Also, we left them having just a first kiss. It seems like too much a leap between films that now she’s using magic and violating Jacob’s consent because he won’t marry her.
I wish we would have seen more Tina and Queenie on this. But instead Tina was reduced to a love interest in this film. She’s basically Bunty.
Why was Bunty introduced? And what role did Nicolas Flamel serve? Or Nagini? Or like half the characters introduced?
They should have explained more about the blood pact and how that works. Also that’s a violation of the mirror of erised.
I hate that JKR put mcgonagall in this and made Dumbledore a DADA teacher.
Why was there an ice dragon? That made no sense. It became way too GOT for me. Especially when Grindelwald was like join me or die.
Ugh. And there are going to be three more. I really wish JKR hadn’t done this. I hate it when she violates canon to make stupid reveals and fan service stuff.
And I didn’t think I would stan Rita Skeeter, but there’s no way my girl would not have uncovered that Dumbledore had a secret brother.
I will now go back to caring about Jily. The one thing JKR can’t poison (but probably will by saying lily should have married Snape).
