I, for one, like to think of the Palismen Philip/Belos consumes look at what's going on before going "NOPE" and deciding to act up on purpose, not just randomly.

Just.... One sees what he's planning then looks to the others like:

"Hey, he's being a sneaky bastard again, do we have enough energy to interrupt him?"

Then they hold a conversation about what they can realistically pull off at that moment, and there's always that one who thinks they should steer him off a cliff in his monster form. Everyone would be for it if they actually had the energy to control him entirely, rather than partially and just forcing him to change, hopefully scare off anyone he was hoping to use/harm.

Sometimes, it really is just for the hell of it when he's being too "Good" for their liking. Major "What can we do to fuck up his day/expose him to the world?" energy.

This is going to sound crazy, but every time I think of monster Belos, I think of the smell of a forest after heavy rain.

He doesn't smell bad, per se, but he smells like how wood decays with moss growing on it in the dirt and mud somewhere deep in the woods. At least, I don't think that smells bad. Just earthy.

Maybe his human form smells of earthy tones as well.

That, in turn, takes me back to when I'd tear across the woods close to home, climb trees, and such. I specifically remember a large oak tree in a clearing in the woods near an old overgrown and underdeveloped evacuation route a few streets away that was dying on one side. It wasn't as old as some of the other oaks I've climbed, with branches touching the ground, but it was still a challenging climb. It's no longer there as the area has been turned into houses but I remember sitting in its branches and taking in the scents.

It seems like Belos' monster form takes me back to my childhood.

Touch affectionate reader would kill Good!Belos XD Like he puts his hand on their shoulder to led them somewhere and they go hmmm 🤔 so touch is ok and they put their own hand on his shoulder so that their arms together create a flat X ya know and their side is completely pressed against him.

OH and maybe they do it only with him because their gut tells them it's ok to trust him.

Even funnier if he loses his cool completely as well as his human form and he ends up going monster form before going to hide for a little bit to calm down just because you TOUCHED him or were nice to him.

He'd also be the type to think you'll leave him at any point and it means the world to him that he can wake up to find you still around even after a bad day because... maybe Caleb did leave him without telling him anything and Philip followed thinking he was in danger only to find Caleb had dropped the ball entirely (Philip witnessed Evelyn beat the living crap out of Caleb for giving his younger brother a heart attack for his absentmindedness) so he does still have abandonment issues that he's trying to work through.

PFFFT, he just stares at you blankly in his monster form, his usually fluffy hair getting soaked before he snatches it from you.

"Stop wasting holy water! It has a proper purpose you know!"

Probably would work better with Vampire!Belos >XD

Have you played starfield?

But I found a creature that reminded me of Belos’s monster form and those thoughts together made me think of you

Haven't played Starfield. I haven't found much enjoyment in space-themed games, unfortunately. I'll have to look into the monster now that you've said that.

I'm entrenched in Baldur's Gate 3 right now cuz of a CERTAIN VAMPIRE ELF and I was able to make my Guardian look so much like Philip and it's killing me. I'll post pics when I can >XD I LOVE the twist to who the Guardian is considering everything he says makes it sound like something Philip would say to protect another human >w>

You sat up in a cold sweat. Another nightmare.

Ever since that little demon started showing up with the "Emperor's Coven" to try to get you to meet the emperor, you've been having the same nightmare over and over again.

It always started out after you ran Kikimora and the scouts off. Before you could go back into your domicile, you caught movement out of the corner of your eye. Whatever it was, it was huge and moved on all fours. You'd find nothing the first handful of times but when you were sure the fortress was locked down for the night, whatever was stalking you somehow got in. You could feel its presence behind you. It loomed over you and you could hear it breathing. However, whenever you tried to look, you just got a flash of blue eyes, and whatever it was attacked you. That's when you woke up.

Despite losing track of how long you've been in the Boiling Isles, you had been here long enough to be desensitized by the fauna of the Boiling Isles. You even got a baby Slither Beast to act like a Golden Retriever around you when you figured out what to feed it. With the aid of the palisman that took a shine to you and the newly acquired Ice Glyph, raising your glyph count to three, you found yourself a lot less fearful of the world around you.

Whatever you were seeing in your nightmares was something new. It felt intelligent. It knew what it was doing. Was this a warning of some sort?
