Star Wars Historians

Can you imagine being a historian in Star Wars post-canon – like centuries/millennia later when all of history is divided into pre-*That Asshole and post-*That Asshole.

If you’re studying post-Asshole there’s lovely records, descendants carefully preserving family oral history, beautifully preserved monuments, and handy-dandy time capsules and all the evidence you could ever want!

Pre-Asshole is excavating the giant crater for any scrap of evidence – a pottery shard would be lovely – whether it was a city or a temple or a random patch of grassland. Or Empire Propaganda, which has evidence of being re-written at least 100 times in its 19 to 53(?) year history.

*That Asshole was known as the following: Supreme Leader, Palpatine, Emperor, Sidious, Sith, Lord, Sheev, Chancellor, Master, Sido-Dyas and Snoke. Knowing him? Had all the titles at once.

I would just like to say that the word "Showaddywaddy" gets stuck in my head sometimes because I've seen you tag so many posts with it and I just love how it sounds and it'll get stuck in my brain. I don't even know what it is, but I love it. Thank you!

well now i have to talk about it. you don't have to read anything beyond this point if you don't want to, i'm just gonna let myself talk about them as much as i want here for my own sanity if you don't mind.

SO showaddywaddy is the band name. they're a british rock and roll doo wop band from the 70's who tried to keep the sound(and look) of the older rock and roll music alive, both in their own songs and the ones they've covered. they chose that name because of the backing vocals in some older doo wop songs, which are usually just nonsense words that sound good. like in THIS one (little darlin by the diamonds, 1959).

they also answered the question for how they got the name about 35 seconds into this interview by just breaking out the harmonies on the spot and singing the word, which i love and i keep rewatching it every so often just for that part specifically. they've used it in some of their own songs too, like their first single hey rock and roll(which made it to #2 in the charts).

another song that has it, sugar baby love by the rubettes, was originally offered to showaddywaddy but they turned it down because they wanted to do their own written song instead, which was hey rock and roll.
