While Waka had gotten many stares with his costume already, it wasn’t until he ate one of the candies that the stares increased tenfold. Of course it was to be expected, for seeing a living, breathing demon form from what was originally an attempt made at a costume would catch anyone’s eye.

It also brought with it a fair amount of danger, as he was just coming to realize.

“Now before you hit me, could I have some time to explain all of this?”

A clear night sky. It felt like ages since Jack had laid eyes on the stars. Even though he knew he wasn’t ‘home’ anymore, lost in this strange new place, he half expected to see the swirling red in the sky anytime he turns his gaze upwards.

The stars bring just a touch of melancholy to him, but his stare remains as devoid of his inner emotion as usual as he looks towards the sky.

“It’s a nice night. I see why people like being out here at this time.”

     You heard it here, folks. By now, he’s reading all sorts of signs. It’s quite fun, actually. But the adrenaline in him only continues to pump harder; in fact, it’s making his heart roar in his ears, though it feels stuck in his throat. 

     So you know what he does? He discovers there’s an amusement park, right? So what he does is this: He enters the amusement park, on his own terms, and he decides he’s going to get in line for a roller coaster, and he’s almost to the front of the line when he finally looks around and just idly says, as if he doesn’t have a single care in the world and, quite frankly, not caring if he’s heard or not:

     “Hooh, I wonder how many people have died from this roller coaster.”

“Oho... is that power of yours borrowed, granted, or from your own blood?”

     The gods granting their strength to humanity was a staple as old as time. After all, she’s done the very same herself. But naturally, there were also those who could borrow the power of the gods on their own.

Shrine maidens, for one, were the usual sort— be it by their own god’s blessings or by channeling the power of others. However, it was rare to see others who held the same sort of prowess. That’s why, having watched the human girl before her use such divine strength while on the beach, Okina would wearily stand and speak to her.

A distraction like this would prove welcome to her somewhat exhausted self.

“Color me curious, is all.”

“And if you’re wondering how I noticed where the origin if your powers stem from— a god would naturally notice the works of the divine at play, you see.”

hornet....................... does not know how to read. she had the very basics taught to her when she was like 3 and then the infection happened and then she ran away and then she got more invested in protecting hallownest that she just. never got around to learning. granted, books aren't probably super common in hallownest anyway so it's not like she's been at a huge loss until now.

that said if she learned to read (or had someone read to her) I feel like she would enjoy fahrenheit 451 and 1984 a lot because they're very,,, anti censorship, anti dictatorship type of books and she's also very into those beliefs

“I-I’m sorry!” The apology was pure reflex, Emil quickly taking a step back from the other. He’d been nowhere near her- but the words just kinda spilled out before he could think. “E-Er, um... sorry. I was just.... ah... where’d you get that drink? I’m, uh... new around here, um...”

Well, this was going terribly. He didn’t even want to think about what Ratatosk was saying at the moment, tuning him out entirely and just wishing he could fall into a hole in the ground.

          It was intentional of course, him tripping the thief, but he wasn’t about to state as much—especially since he had just stole back what they had initially stole from another during the process. “Ah, sorry about that! ... Need a hand?” With a glare, the thief quickly slaps his extended hand away, no sooner do they continue to dart off down the street. 

          “Well... they’re in for a surprise... when they’ve learned they’ve lost their loot. Now, to find the owner...”
