Painful Reminder Pt. 1
Family. Mavrin had been asked when she joined the Wolves if she had one of those things. Reluctantly she had said no. At one time she did have a family. She had a mate and she even had a child but they were snatched away in front of her very eyes. The very thought of what had been brought this girl to a fit of gasping sobs as the painful memory flashed before her yet again. She remembered it as if it were yesterday...
"Mavrin, honey, I'm home!" Rangifer had been gone for a week to aid the seers in the troubled city of Orgrimmar after Deathwing had torn the barrens asunder. The massive white Tauren was covered head to hoof with soot, dirt, and what looked like blood.
"Oh for Earthmother's sake!" She giggled, "Couldn't you have washed up? You're absolutely filthy." Moose waddled her way out of the opening of the tent and smiled happily at her mate as she rested a hand upon her rather large belly and held a hand upon her lower back.
Rangifer grinned widely before placing a loving kiss upon Mavrin's forehead and leaning down to kiss that big belly, too. "What can I say? I wanted to see my other piece of me. Any news from the medics?"
Mavrin nodded once before turning to waddle inside, "Yes, yes. That kind woman Peregri said that I should be due any day now. It's just a matter of time! Fel... I hope he, or she, --though she thinks it'll be a boy-- will decide to come soon!" She snorts as she lowers herself onto a bench that was padded with layers and layers of furs.
Those big blue eyes that had once been staring at Moose in curiosity was now wide with surprise. "Any day now? Oh that's wonderful, my moon!" Rangifer sat beside her and wrapped his big arms about her. "We're going to be parents in just a matter of days!"
The two Shu'halo's spoke the rest of the evening about what they would name the baby once it was born. They finally settled on Marain for a girl and Rynafer for a boy.
As soon as the sun lowered and the warm hues faded to a darkened blue the expecting couple bedded for the night and fell into a deep slumber. However, it wasn't long before Mavrin and Rangifer were startled awake by a painfully familar voice.
"Long time no see Moose and Caribou. Too long, don't you think?"
