I in no way think you’re supposed to be uncritical of Kate Stewart and her litany of poor choices (including using the Triad tech of a woman you’re investigating as an evil alien threat for fuck’s sake Katherine), but can you imagine Captain Jack walking in while the Doctor is finger-guns’ing everyone, looking him dead in the eyes and saying
“If you saw that I had hired children you would have had a stroke.”
#the doctor /would/ in fact have a blind spot re: morris though#himself a terminal smart kid#who felt and maybe was#more intelligent#than all the adults around him#who had raised them to have#no concept of teenagers#and therefore presumably childhood as a whole#the doctor would be like#being a smart kid aiding the military industrial complex around you#sure that’s just part of the life of a smart kid#never did me any harm#a regular human child would be one thing#he could recognise that#but you put a brilliant kid in front of him#nah man#he didn’t have weekends or holidays or playing outside at lunch#he isn’t considering that for the ones he resonates with either#though would if you forced him to think about it directly#or he asked about rose’s art and she said she’d “had no time to do it”
