And So, Tomorrow Came For Us ||closed|| Endgame

There had been times when the doctors had wanted Pepper to seriously consider pulling the plug. And, she wouldn’t lie, she thought of it too. She never wanted to lose Tony. The idea, alone, made her sick to her stomach. But she knew how much pain he was in, how that last ditch, crazy move to wrestle back the Stones and use them against Thanos had virtually destroyed him on a cellular level. She didn’t want him to suffer, just for the selfish justification of keeping him around a few days more.
What always stopped her was when she thought about the aftermath of the battle. Tony had been so hurt, so close to death that she could see the spark fading in his eyes. But...he didn’t go. He stubbornly held on, just like he always did. Behind that pained expression, the exhaustion, she had still seen this defiant little moment in him, to not just fade away quietly. And so, she didn’t pull the plug.
It had been dicey for weeks, months afterwards. If it wasn’t Tony crashing suddenly, again, because his body just simply couldn’t handle the stress anymore, it was the doctors coming to her with more surgeries, more ways to try to keep him alive, even when she saw in their faces that they didn’t think he would survive. But every time, he came back. Every time, that heart monitor keeps beeping.
Pepper had brought Morgan to see her dad after he had healed outwardly enough that her daughter wouldn’t be scared to look at him. They spent several days like that, just sitting in Tony’s hospital room, watching TV, reading books, coloring, all while Tony slept next to them. And then, at long last, it happened.
Tony woke up. For the first time since the battle, his eyelids cracked open and he looked at them. The first words he said made Pepper start crying, “There you are.”

“Hey Squirt, You okay?” The billionaire walks into the room, a soft smile on his face as he sees his daughter. “Whats this mama tells me that you don’t want eat your veggies? Do you not like them?”
“Morgan, honey. You said that half an hour ago.” Tony smiled at her, eyes filled with clear adoration. “But you’ve got to eat something, you’ve fed the ducks more than enough, trust me, now you need to get something to eat or I’m gonna get in trouble.”
@morganstcrk continued.
Transitioning from the kitchen into the living room would have been effortlessly executed, if not for the very innocent and distinctive voice of her precious daughter causing for the woman to falter.
Blue hues grow wide in disbelief, how could those words.... those two wildly inappropriate words be spoken by someone so young and pure ? Pepper is afraid to ask where she’s heard of such a thing, or rather who hasn’t been correcting the four year old’s grammar....
“Morgan, sweetheart.... it’s PopCorn, not.... well, not what you called it before.”

“I know your secret.”
The words come out as a whisper as she leans in close. Brown eyes are narrowed as she looks at him with a mixture of wariness and interest. “Dad once read a book to me about it but never got to finish it after mom found out. She was furious.” She pauses, almost dramatically. “You’re a vampire, right?”
“Interesting theory.”
It’s an easy assumption. He’s pale, elegant, well-spoken, and keeps only turning up at night while people are asleep. He doesn’t want the fuss of Avengers assuming he’s up to something, especially the squawking they’d make at his talking to Stark’s offspring.
“Care to test it?”

@morganstcrk liked for a starter
Wanda and Morgan were sat in the pillow fort that they’d spent several hours constructing. She was lighting the inside with her magic, a soft red orb hovering in the sheets and casting red lights across their faces. Wanda took another bite of the veggie pizza they’d ordered. “What story do you want to hear now?” She asked Morgan curiously, her hair piled up on her head in a bun and the pair of them in their pyjamas.

Of course Thor is only too happy to indulge Morgan’s creativity as once he used to with some of the younger Æsir, when long afternoons would be spent telling tales of Asgard whilst they practice intricate patterns with tiny hands. She is, however, also Anthony’s child, and he expects that making it too easy for her would not be half as entertaining for the youngster. He pulls theatrical expressions, ‘accidentally’ squirms and encourages her curiosity with his own queries. Truth be told there was more to learn from the young than he had ever realised.
He squints when she adds another bead, trying to turn his head subtly and focus at such short distance on both style and colour choice for this particular adornment. A thoughtful pout later and he acquiesces. “I rather suppose it is.” Now it has been washed and brushed out from the mess it was in he’s starting to feel more himself once more, at least. “That’s quite the compliment - I must admit I’m excited to see how all of this looks once you’re done. Now then, are we to be showing your handiwork to anyone in particular, I wonder?” He fidgets again, never one to make things easy, and eyes the tray of assorted beads. “I wager your hair is long enough for a braid or two, also.”
