I’ve been working on this landscape for a while now. It began life with coats of deep charcoal then slowly built up layers until I could feel the summer sunshine in ‘Summer Harvest’. Inspired by my visit to Mount Macedon earlier this year. From the property where we were staying was a view straight out to the majestic misty mountaintop and the lush grasslands below were covered in kangaroos basking in the sunshine. I wandered into the fields and found that the kangaroos all stopped eating and grooming to stare at me! It was a wonderful moment. I’ve tried to capture the warmth of the day and the peaceful feeling of the countryside into this painting. .
