I was in the dead center of totality in Emmett, Idaho recording the eclipse in 4k. As the totality ended, this soft and alien ray of light shown over the edge. So soft that it was viewable for a few seconds with the bare eye. The temperature had dropped from 80 degrees to 68 in a matter of 2 minutes and the way this light bathed to landscape was truly something to behold. There are no filters on this photo. But it does not make up for the rebuilding you must do.

The land remains where you once stood.

A little different than how you remember it but it holds every decayed brick you left behind.

Do not believe that you can patch together old bricks & call it home.

I've always been a fan of yours, I rooted for you even.

But you disappointed not only your resident but the entire town that surrounded you.

Her tears shed both in front of me & alone could have filled the moat around you.

Maybe that's what kept you away for so long.

I have never seen destruction in that form.

I watched you be a comfort & a discomfort.

But even when you didn't deserve the name, you were still called home.

After your structure was gone, burned, & discarded the ashes were still a reminder that you used to be the only fire warming her heart.

You are welcome to rebuild but I will watch you carefully, to make sure that every crack is filled.

I love the land you are building on, maybe even call it my friend.

Second chances are limited & grass only grows back once.

Take every step on this familiar ground carefully.

The tears that filled the moat to keep you out have been soaked back into the land, the grass is now greener on every side.

Remember that, you will not find better. 

You are now standing on the greenest side there is.
