National Mule Appreciation Day, October 26, 2018
Mules are celebrated throughout the year. Mule Day in Columbia, Tennessee is early in April, and Mule Days in Bishop, California will celebrate their 50th year in 2019 during the Memorial Day weekend. A mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. Mules have been used as beasts of burden since before 3000BC. In the United States, it was George Washington who helped to develop the mule in America with the acquisition of Andalusian donkeys from Spain to use a breeding stock.
