Honestly, I think my favorite thing that I picked up on while watching Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man is the fact that Monsignor Wicks is 100% making up the fact that he’s a Monsignor.

If you don’t know, in the Catholic Church, “Monsignor” is an honorary title bestowed upon a priest by the pope (usually from a recommendation from their bishop) for above and beyond service and work to the church. So if that archbishop in the beginning warned Fr. Jud about Wicks there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell he recommended him to the Pope. And there’s no way the Pope would bestow that upon a guy like Wicks on his own.

This means that “Monsignor” Wicks absolutely 100% bold face lies about having that title to make himself look better. Also, fun fact, “monsignor” is generally understood to mean “my lord” and Wicks certainly acts like he’s their lord to worship rather than The Lord. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
