Donna Hanscum/Jody Mills Rating: G, Word Count: 769 Tags: Fluff, Domestic Fluff, Canon Universe, Established Relationship, Long-Distance Relationship ♥ Donna and Jody manage to clear some space in their busy calendars to spend a weekend together.

It’s the cold that wakes Jody. Well, not the cold, but her arm that somehow escaped the pile of blankets and is now exposed to the chilly night-air of the bedroom. She tucks it back in and curls into the warm body next to her. Sleeping next to Donna is like sleeping with a hot pack that never cools down, but better.

Donna makes a soft, contented noise as Jody presses closer, and Jody can’t help but smile. They don’t get to do this often enough. Hell, even if they actually lived together and slept in the same bed every night they wouldn’t be doing this often enough in her opinion.

She loves her job—and she knows that Donna loves hers just as much—and she’s proud of both of them; both sheriffs, respected and loved in their little towns. If only those little towns were a little closer to one another. Or if getting the weekend off were a little easier for a sheriff. They try to meet somewhere in the middle at least once a week, but they don’t always succeed. And more often than not, when they do finally manage to get some time off at the same time, there will be a hunt waiting for them, destroying their plan to spend at least a couple hours doing nothing but eat and stay in bed.

So this weekend is special and to be savoured. Things are quiet on the supernatural front, nothing that the girls and boys can’t handle by themselves, no events in either of their towns, and the weather was nice enough to allow Jody to make good time and get to Donna earlier than planned.

Jody presses her smile in Donna’s shoulder and makes herself comfortable. She’s warm and back asleep in minutes.

The next time she wakes up she’s warm and comfortable, and the bedroom is filled with curtain-shaded sunlight. Her head is resting against Donna’s hip, because Donna’s is sitting up, leaning against the headboard and… Jody has no idea what her girlfriend is doing right now, actually. She sits up, taking the blankets with her so she stays wrapped in their exquisite warmth.

‘What are you doing?’ Her voice is rough from sleep, and she’s not awake enough yet to sit up by herself so she leans against Donna, resting her head on her shoulder.

Donna is furiously tapping away on her phone, but without her glasses, Jody can’t make out what’s on the screen. It’s just splotches of bright colour.

‘I’m trying to beat this level of Candy Crush,’ Donna grits out. She’s tapping more furiously, then her shoulders slump in defeat. ‘Dang it!’

Jody gasps. ‘Such dirty language!’

‘Har, har.’ Donna puts away her phone and wraps an arm around Jody, pulling her closer. ‘Good morning.’

‘It’s still morning?’ Jody groans. ‘Then we woke up to soon. Let’s go back to sleep.’

‘Or, I can make you pancakes and coffee?’

Jody turns her head, and she can just make out Donna’s bright smile.

‘Fine,’ she sighs. ‘But I also want bacon. And extra syrup.’

‘You got it.’ Donna presses a kiss to the top of Jody’s head, hands her glasses to her, then slides out of the bed, grabbing a discarded shirt from the clothes-chair as she makes her way out of the room.

Jody is slow to follow. She takes another couple minutes to enjoy the warmth beneath the blankets, then jumps out of bed and into a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. She looks around for a pair of socks, but not finding any at first glance, she slides her feet into Donna’s bunny slippers. She wraps her arms around herself in an effort to keep all that cosy warmth from the bed still with her, but by the time she’s reached the kitchen it’s gone. She’s not cold, the hoodie and sweatpants make sure of that, but that fulfilling contentment is gone.

‘Can you make the coffee?’ Donna asks. There’s already a couple pancakes sitting on a plate. They’re a perfect light brown and smell delicious.

Jody gets the coffeemaker going then wraps her arms around Donna’s waist and hooks her chin over Donna’s shoulder.

‘Smells good,’ she says, and presses a kiss to Donna’s jaw.

‘Thank you.’ Donna’s smile isn’t visible to Jody, but she can feel it in the way her girlfriend’s cheeks bulge.

‘I’m talking about the coffee.’

Donna turns in Jody’s arms, her smile soft and happy. ‘Jokes before breakfast, huh? You must’ve slept really well.’

Jody’s smile mirrors Donna’s when she says, ‘When I sleep with you, always.’

Stranger Things moodboards: Ronance (Nancy/Robin) - minigolf date

Made for @femslash-friday-prompts July 15th prompts, which were ‘It’s a date’ + a picture for minigolfing. ~490 word ficlet behind the read more.

“You need to relax,” Robin said for what felt like the eighth time. She'd attempted to word it differently every time of course, hoping Nancy would get her meaning from at least one version of her well-meaning advice, but it wasn't really helping unfortunately. Nancy had been getting increasingly frustrated at her bad score.

Nancy glared back at her as she held the putt in an iron grip. “I'm trying to.”

“Yeah, and you're over-thinking it. You need to loosen up. Like me,” Robin replied, stepping closer and shaking her arms out to demonstrate. Nancy only glared more, but Robin could see the hint of a smile tugging at the corners of Nancy's mouth at her antics. Robin stepped closer still, placing her hands on Nancy's shoulders supportively. Nancy relaxed a bit immediately and Robin couldn't help but be a little smug at having that affect on her. It was nice knowing Nancy trusted her like that.  

“Hey, don't begrudge me this one, singular – I repeat, singular - sport I'm actually freakishly good at. You've got a lot of things you're good at. I won't think any less of you for losing at minigolf. I might even like you more for it, Wheeler.”

“Oh really?” Nancy said curiously as she stared up at Robin.

“Yeah,” Robin said, faintly this time, too caught up in Nancy's eyes. It was remarkably hard to think when Nancy looked at her like that, like she had her full and rapt attention. For a moment she thought Nancy might be leaning forward, maybe even leaning up, and she desperately wanted that to be true, for Nancy to kiss her right then and there on the green of the 13th hole. They shouldn't, but Robin wished for it anyway. Instead, she dropped her hands to her sides and stepped back, the one concession to what she wanted was that she didn't break that shared gaze.

“I've heard that the 18th hole has a big windmill that a lot of people get their balls stuck inside,” Nancy started.

“Okay...” Robin said, confused at the abrupt change of topic.

“It's not unusual for people to disappear in there for a few minutes searching for it,” Nancy finished with a devious smirk.

“You do realize that would mean you need to hit the ball and get it into the windmill first,” Robin teased, earning her a light punch on the arm from Nancy. “But I like the way you think, Wheeler.”

“I know you do,” Nancy replied confidently before taking up a position for her shot again. This time her stance was less tense and her playing definitely improved after that. Having a plan to focus on helped, instead of her stewing over how she was failing that her competitive streak didn't deal well with. Robin won at minigolf, but, as she liked to joke with Nancy, they both won at the date.

Game of Thrones moodboards: Sansa/Margaery

This week’s @femslash-friday-prompts ‘whispers in the dark’ got me thinking of a fluffier AU for Sansa where she goes to Highgarden instead of King’s Landing. Margaery gently teaching her many things and opening up her mind to other possibilities for herself. Of her reading sapphic poetry by candlelight - whispering the words out loud that make her wonder - with a treasured rose from Margaery on her nightstand.

BBC Sherlock moodboards: Femslash February 2022 - Victorian Molly/Mary

One day, unexpectedly, Miss Mary Morstan visits Molly to enquire about her father's death. What is exceptional about this turn of events is that Molly Hooper has absolutely nothing to do with his autopsy of Captain Morstan, officially speaking. But Miss Morstan doesn't hedge around that, she accepts the fact that Molly Hooper and 'Malcolm Hooper' are the same person. She doesn't act scandalised about Molly's expertise either, inviting frank discussion of her findings. Molly only had a chance to do a preliminary autopsy before she was ousted from her position, but she'd seen enough to know it was surely foul play.

Miss Morstan came home many weeks later, missing her father's funeral, chasing after the ghost of the investigation long since declared dead. She won't speak of why she was away, or the delay in her return from India. It is said but not elaborated on that her family has enemies and so the murder is not surprising in the least. The more Molly gets to know Mary, the more she wonders if those enemies were her father's or somehow Mary's, despite how outlandish it sounds to Molly's ears. She tries to ask outright once but all Mary will say is she has her own secrets. It seems to be implied Molly should understand not wishing to speak of what the world may make them do. And given the grace Mary permits Molly despite her failed subterfuge she should perhaps be grateful, but there's a rebellious part of Molly that is insatiably curious. Who watches Mary's wry, amused smiles with interest and wishes they could both speak of everything, in a way she can to no other.

Mary procures a private investigator for her father's case and she is clearly kept abreast of developments, which she visits Molly regularly to discuss. Each visit Mary brings a small bouquet as well. The investigator does due diligence but progress is slow and she senses Mary's impatience. Mary is always eager to talk over each new tidbit of information, trusting Molly's opinion, something she hasn't felt since she was forced out of St Bart's. Eventually, Mary fires her investigator and Molly offers to reach out to an old acquaintance, Sherlock Holmes, begging a favour she isn't sure he will permit, if he even remembers her. Mary has other plans though, intent to dig into things herself 'through whatever means necessary'. When she catches Mary's eye that day, wondering what she should say to her at that, she sees they blaze with a slowly built fury. If Mary were anyone else, she would ask her to be careful, but she has the uncanny feeling it's Mary others should be careful of.

She doesn't see Mary for several weeks, leaving Molly a touch melancholy and prone to reflection. It takes Molly until then - regarding the drying last bouquet that is her only souvenir of their relationship - to realise the theme of those gifts. That they may be a potential talking point, for example. Every flower beautiful and deadly, if prepared in a particular manner. A meaning that would not be known by the general public, only by those who specialise in the poisonous for one reason or another.

When Mary comes around again, she is jubilant at having solved her father's case. But Molly remembers nothing in the papers that week and she wonders what is the justice Mary speaks of. To her disappointment, Mary does not bring flowers then and she fears their friendship is at a natural end, even though it feels as unexpected to her as their start. However, flowers are left when Molly is out the next day - blue Muscari and a calling card with simply the initial R elaborately scripted on it. The flowers are those of remembrance, not deadly in the least. There's a time, date and place handwritten on the back and the message “Come find out my secrets if you dare”.
