This is an eternity late, but since I figured I should post a few more recent samples of my writing so as to hopefully make some people want to commission me (you can find any relevant information in this post), here’s the first sample that is part of a Pluto & Proserpina AU @tmvoldemort and I have been developing. It’s about 400 words long and therefore slightly shorter than the cheapest option I am offering.
Since I would greatly benefit from a surgery that’d address at least one of my three conditions and I cannot work due to my poor health, offering these commissions is my attempt at making this recovery goal of mine more realistic.
They claimed to revere her as the embodiment of Life itself, addressing her in their prayers during any drought and whenever they stood at a loved one’s deathbed, and selfish fools that they were, they thus sought to take and take from her until there was nothing left of her.
Yet as the Ruler of the Underworld, Lord Voldemort easily recognized the flaw in the mortals’ logic: They regarded life as a boon they did not wish to part with, only telling their criminals that death was a reward as they maimed and tortured them until they were begging for a final act of mercy; and when they thought of the goddess Nagini, they imagined a serene benefactor content to grant their wishes with no desires of her own.
Little did they know about her faithful familiars, magnificent serpents capable of inflicting excruciating pain by injecting venom that would not stop their targets’ breathing, nor did they know about the way the vines and tendrils she willed to grow would wrap around the unmoving hearts of his servants – walking husks who had once been mortal – and pierce them with their thorns until a cacophony of screams reverberated within his entire domain.
(His delight couldn’t have been greater when he had learned that each of them had slighted his wife during their lifetime.)
And he wondered if they knew that many of her germ buds thrived within the intestines of their deceased ancestors and soon emerged through their eye sockets, nostrils, and mouths in their vivaciousness and splendor.
Would they turn their back on her if they became aware of her true nature?
Would they continue to perform their sacred duties for the sake of maintaining appearances alone?
What had been but a tiny spark morphed into a wildfire as he answered his unspoken questions, and soon, the mortals’ cities were engulfed in flames, causing them to scurry around like ants as they begged her to save them.
For the first time, Nagini’s name sounded like a prayer from the mortals’ lips, and his disenchanted wife’s eyes lit up and her lips formed the first smile he had ever witnessed.
When she pressed her lips to his, stealing his very breath away, Lord Voldemort was overcome with joy, and as they proceeded to take from one another, only to give back tenfold, they all but forgot about the buildings collapsing behind them.
