3.2 Happiness Charge Precure! EP 16 - 18

It's already March and I haven't done one of these since early December... the one year mark has already passed, Idol wrapped up and we're already something like five weeks into the next one...its time to try and get this ball rolling again.

EP 16

And straight out the gate, the news reporter has some crazy energy.

That's not exactly foreshadowing but it does a good job highlighting the main focus cures, outside of the main group; all of them have been seen briefly already. One would assume we'd see even more from them down the line.

Interesting pose choice and we'll just leave it at that shall we ...

The school is one thing but someone's actual house... (Let's be fair now, all precure girls are screwed by having abnormal hair colours against the general public, outside of that though, those notes are so vague they could be about anyone, especially in a school setting.)

Seiji just being everyone's response in that moment -.-" seriously Megumi shouldn't have been allowed to be left alone. But Miyako kicking off the grand ol tradition of being saved by X and wanting to become X or get closer to them. (Mystery purple cure being her idol though, the breadcrumbs and dot connections this series is currently offering!)

Appreciate that they showed it wasn't quite that simple to become a Precure, God handed of the Precure crystal but despite her efforts it didn't transform into a mirror. (I'd assume they weren't genuine enough)

Has to be said, this is a good way to introduce a new alt attire. The reporter knows all their standard move and can counter them, so tackle her with a whole new, never before seen attack. Outfit is alright, attack seems rather mediocre, then again, these outfit changes seem to be more aimed at helping to tackle crowds of enemies not just one. Perhaps it'll get some more justice done next time?

That was decent of her, she had Lovely's identity and still she kept the info to herself and came up with an excuse to stall it. Ha, she kept the love crystal and added it to her standard attire.

It was a decent conclusion on the whole, her spirits picking up again upon the support and cheers of children who watch the show and count on her, thus already having quite an important role to fill already.

EP 17

XD At least he got involved, the question is, was it willingly or unwillingly though? Its almost impressive how little Blue has to do in a day it seems. And this is quite the opening before the intro actually kicks in. (Not one of the insane ones but a biggie)

Tenth anniversary, that was so long ago now but it feels like some budget was thrown into this little segment? Still, Cure Rouge with the voice you just seem to hear everywhere. (This VA has some serious major characters to her name)

The breadcrumbs and nods to things already but in general Pink fashion, it's gone right over Megumi's head and has been interpreted as something else. Seriously the way Megumi talks about him though, it's a complete tone change and shift. o.O? Did it mention anywhere Hime had fascination with chickens or is this a visual jab at her character?

He just appeared out of no where in this ep, no forewarning or anything, just bam, Terribad time halfway into the ep! (I don't disapprove)

Proactive, all the points for Seiji! It will forever remain a mystery why he was denied a Precure title or something similar. (Would it have really looked so wrong?) Bonus point for Hime for at least trying and actually being willing to take on the Terribad solo, nevermind standing up to the General, it shows just how far her character has come already.

It wasn't any better with the minions there but it does feel like Honey has had a character journey of sorts before; there feels like there should be a reason why she's so on top and in tune with everything around her?

They spare with no pads o.O That seems crazy for full on contact like that, no wonder he's so battered and bruised.

EP 18

And then we start this ep off, with one of Hime's more annoying traits, the constant flips back and forth with this character are insane -.-

Berry and Peach in the span of three eps, I think that actually ticks off their group entirely. (Would need to double check, think that's the first one???)

This is a different take on a wedding ceremony/ wedding ep, I like the more personal touch to it, it makes it more unique.

XD I can't tell if Hime knows what she's doing in moments like this or just running with it. (It's like White all over again >.<)

The plot thickens but how can one be studying abroad and not no where they are? That sounds like a flawed excuse. And just how much older is Maria to Iona or this lady to Maria? Or is she just getting married super young?

All three together and not trying to kill each other, isn't that nice to see. There's no reason why villain groups can't all work together on the same page to...

Wait...! Does he have a licence for that!?

And did Seiji just run home and change? Did everyone? Or did everyone just bring a change of clothes with them... and if they can smarten up, why not Yuuko's dad?

You would think this was their first time meeting -.-" How have they not caught on yet?

Come on Fortune, that's a bit harsh isn't it, you may not like Princess but to say you expect nothing from her, when she's clearly been putting in the effort and improving, heck she's even part of a team now that's even helping her to become better. She's come a long way, just to kick her back down like that.

Why does she have the bouquet back???

It's definitely more of a standout for a wedding themed ep but all these nods at Fortune, it seems we're finally hitting a Fortune mini arc, which actually aligns quite well to be the Fourth Cure trope; it is almost the half way mark.

Hime, Megumi, Seiji and Yuuko actually make a good team so far, they support and prop each other nicely. Seiji makes that nice, grounded voice of reason, to the more softer touch of Yuuko or oblivious one of Megumi but in big brother way, so it feels encouraging/understanding to. I'll admit though, its a cast with traits of yay they're good, to darn they're annoying or an idiot constantly -.- just pick a lane already.

The bad guys kinda just fell into the background this time though, as if they just showed up to do a job and left again, which really is an odd vibe to be giving them o.O?

3.2 Happiness Charge Precure! EP 7 - 9

Ok, in retrospect, I can see why it was suggested to watch Happiness along side Heartcatch; I can see some similarities between Lovely/Hime and Blossom/Marine and in art style to, to an extent but I quite like both styles used to be fair.

EP 7

How swiftly things change, Hime is now trying to make a surprise cake for Megumi.

Really curious how they decided these, did they just send out a mass email and who ever had a spare five mins to drop in got the slot for that week?

The irony, constantly get upset at her for not doing things herself, the second she tries doing things herself, they are constantly cutting in.

Blue... allegedly all seeing, some one's at the door, where he's either faking a response or genuinely has no idea. Dude, what are you good for?

The poor guy should just stop accepting invites at this point, no one ever seems happy to see him, at least he takes it in his stride.

Oh the irony, Seiji, I feel sorry for you already.

Two at once... that's a first and why do the mirrors look like coffins?

As snazzy as that looks and I know they said they bracelet lets them pull out any attack but it's just too much, the thing needs a limiter because at this point its pretty much a new trick every ep. Your limitation is the imagination... however when you can just think your way up a solution, how do you ever have a problem to start with?

I say and then can't fault duo moments like this because they are so few and far between.

Gets four cards, only three go in the book as one magically combines into one outfit between scenes???

How!? It's only EP 7... safe to say this series isn't running off real world time then? (Plus we only saw Hime prep one cake? So she either actually brought that or did a heck of a lot more off screen? That's very good for what is more than likely a first attempt? I'm not sold she made that entirely on her own...)

The two titles for EP 7 and EP 8, completely contradicting each other...EP 7, let's celebrate our friendship, EP 8, oh no our Frienship is in trouble o.O How do you even end up with something like that? One after the other is just poor planning...

EP 8

XD Bomber girls Precure... oh good gravy, what a name to give them and considering the size of the USA, is there more than one group there, like one a state or something or do they have some magical way of getting about?

They just went all in on the stereotypes didn't they... oh dear. The French is an artist with no name and the Indian team is Wonder Net Precure.

O.o? She's reminding me of the school reporter from Yes! Even sharing the name pun idea and appearance... it's some sort of distant/alternate universe relative???

One I haven't technically met yet! It still strikes me as odd that the pink/leaders weren't got out the way first but I think this is our first yellow greeting.

Keeping the yellow theme going... He's back! It's Kururu (whose also Yellow XD) or Kanzaki from Vanguard G or Nagisa's Dad or Scorp from GoGo! Take ya pick, he's got quite the freaking role call this guy! Or in this case General Oresky.

I have questions on how this still works? They show it at the same time but is it meant to be seperate despite only being seen with one copy of the cards? And this one did not come with a hairstyle... how did Hime get a new style or the Yukata a different colour as an end result?

She recognises Hime but Hime doesn't recognise her and usually it's one or the other but Iona is both and famous for what reason?

Thematically its fitting, everyone does seem to love their mirrors in this series. Now this is X to doubt moment because the pair having been doing well, so Iona genuinely saying they'll do bad or her vendetta against Hime is making her bias? In which case, that's a bit unfair, even if you don't like her.

Sheesh, just how many people can you fit into one mirror? Two in the last ep, four in this one?

We've already established this is global scale, with global wide Precure teams but are you telling me, that there are only three Generals in the entire Phantom Empire, covering the entire planet? Or it's just Namakelder and Hosshiwa are the ones covering Japan?

Ooh, logical plot twist!

And she's back to do stuff, she says save the city, making a fool of or putting Hime in her place also feels like acceptable answers. You can't go around making claims like that and then just walk away, explain yourself! Lovely has been a positive influence on Hime and it shows in her performance. Sure Fortune can dislike her for whatever the reason is but you can't keep tearing Princess down when she's genuinely trying to become better.

EP 9

Curious, if God dishes out the Precure powers, he doesn't know how Fortune came to be because he never gave any to her?

Half the fun is just comparing all the different art styles used and how they make them each look so different. (Not quite unique but different from each other at least).

It's a pretty accurate dojo at least, belt colours, levels, patterns and even talk of grading exams.

Although with how noisy Hime is, she'd be getting in trouble a heck of a lot... actually Megumi to with how much they both talk.

And the Generals come out as trio? But Oresky is doing the battle solo? Why were they out together then?

And isn't going from two to four to one a bit of a downgrade of a challenge? Oresky showed up and summoned two Saiarks last time?

And I'm out of pics for this round but Cure Honey is now here! (When you put it altogether, they'll kick themselves for not clicking onto who it is. I like how she actually has nothing to do with singing though prior, which does throw you off slightly).

^^" And even Seiji joins in with singing Honey's song at the end, it really is an odd song choice, it's just so random.

The Happiness Precure world got a lot bigger in these three eps but there are still a ton of things, even the basic things that need explaining still on just how they work. I wonder if making it a global scale thing, is actually just going to make it too big for the series to manage?

3.2 Happiness Charge Precure! EP 4 - 6

EP 4

When did he become her Dad? And if they are about to attend school, why is Megumi there is casual attire?

There's actually an art style similarity between this and Happiness Charge... although Heartcatch does have a super unique art style to it. Curious how they picked them now, did they just roulette it?

Ha, the colour symbolism. The two extremities of Hime's personality are exhausting and yet, relatable in way.

It's only Ep 4 and Hime has already had quite the character growth, its impressive in its own way and quite mature in her realising that she needs to do at her own pace, over getting swept in others or expecting instant results.

XD Go Lovely! What a way to fight! Using the lackeys like gloves to beat up the actual monster of the week.

And then proceeds to go back and inspire the teacher who was also struggling.

Now, when Yuuko should up in the infirmary... Ribbon became a plushie, now when Hime tries to actually talk and befriend Yuuko at the end, Ribbon is just floating besides Megumi? Why? What was the point of the first one then?

EP 5

Happiness Charge is a funny series, I dunno why I thought Smile came after it or the lack or realisation that some series are way older than I click onto due to watching them all at once.

Out of context that's actually pretty funny; now if only it was that simple.

And that's the same shot from the other ep... but how do they do it twice if they only get one set of cards? You don't see them get two sets and considering how the mirror change works, you can't do one and then the other?

I had a feeling, considering she's often seen in her pyjama's, which makes that rough for Megumi as well, so she's being overly cheerful, so her Mum doesn't have to worry about her? (I think that may be a first to, the family life of the leads usually seem very settled and normal).

It's always something so simple, it'd be nice if it was more of a personal experience that inspired from time to time.

Only to back track on ourselves in the very same episode o.O?

Performance skills need some work... ^^" just awkward.

Considering there is only two of them, two minutes for a transformation feels like a long time.

They've already done it twice, seems a bit late to be addressing it now.

Oddly, Hime said the exact same thing? That's a bit confusing because it isn't like Hime learned a lesson or anything so that's just both sides in agreement against Megumi???

I don't spot them often but animation error! Not to mention in the next scene the pair are the same height despite Hime being nearly a head shorter.

Again... has she nothing better to do?

This ep was full of contradictions...so, helping others is selfish? Is selfless? For the reward? For yourself? Which is it? What was the message here? Plus why have the new cards obtained so far always just been the new form changes, one after the other? Why not wait and spread it out, it isn't like a form change is going to be needed every ep, it doesn't make them feel like rare or special cards in anyway and how do they decide who uses which card? Is there any reason why Hime can't use the Hip Hop/Flamenco ones and Megumi the Ballet one?

EP 6

If Hime won't eat what you cook for her, then yes, she can cook her own or go with out, that's just ungrateful or perhaps ask before one even starts cooking.

XD Ten was so long ago now, yay for Splash Star representation though!

Oof, the poor guy.

Ooh, you've got to hand it to Yuuko, she's good at this. No wonder Megumi referred to her as her best friend, they are very much a like in that line of thought.

-.- The pair don't care about secrecy at all do they, the implication is they just transformed right in front of Yuuko's family store, where her family were currently standing outside...

Wait... hold up, the fairy is able to do stuff to? Is that allowed?

If anything this ep made it evidently clear how the fanbase is so torn over Hime, you either love or hate her and the last ep showed both cases to the extreme but its still early days. Megumi is a positive influence on her but Yuuko may be better still and looking at her, especially in these three, the theory about her arc may hold some weight to it after all.

Can't argue though, these three were still enjoyable.

I just watched episode 42 of Happiness Charge Precure, and my only reaction was, " Oh God no....." This can't be happening to me! My poor precious generals! The generals I've been in love with since the hat Saiark...They've left me too fast! Please come back to me my darlings, come back as heroes or something! I wanted so much more for my three babies, and now I find their purification no better than that of the Heartcatch generals, the very thing I wanted to avoid! No! I'm crying, dying from depression, it can't be! The whole season is ruined! I waited 42 weeks for this!?!?! NO NO NO NO NO !!! I can't take it! Please help me! NAMAKERUDA! HOSSHIWA! ORESKY! Don't be like the Heartcatch generals! Don't only be mentioned for a second in the last episode! PLEASE COME BACK! DON'T LEAVE ME, YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!!! *tears* Okay, I'll be alright......NOT!
