Shikaku held onto Yoshino for dear life, his heart clenching at the sound of her sobs. “I’m sorry, Yoshino..” He whispered, kissing her forehead softly. He couldn’t bring himself to tell her how much time he had left. She didn’t deserve the pain.
Sighing softly, Shikaku realised that Yoshino needed to know the truth. “T-Tsunade.. she says I have 6 months to a year left… She says it’s hard to tell…” He whispered into her hard, tears welling in his eyes. He wasn’t ready to die yet.
Yoshino thought her heart was going to stop, right there. She was shaking like a leaf, trying to get a hold of herself, to stop sobbing like a child. Her hands gripped the fabric of his shirt even more tightly.
“This must be a... a mistake. You can’t...” she couldn’t even say the word. “It has to be a mistake. T-Tsunade-sama needs to... redo the tests, this is impossible...”
She couldn’t accept the fact that he was going to leave. Not so soon. Not when they had still so many things to live together.
