Uchiha clan
The Uchiha clan plot twist is one of those that I have come to accept over time (altho I was terribly outraged when it was first revealed after Itachi’s death), and I’ve enjoyed reading the various meta about it. However, there’s a couple points I find kind of annoying in how people approach the issue.
1) “They could have just left, why have a coup.” I’ve seen this mentioned offhand in a few places (even when going the anti-Konoha route), and I find it... very shortsighted?
It’s obvious that the Uchiha clan couldn’t have just left Konoha to escape the discrimination (whether you agree that it was there or not, and however much of it there was). There is absolutely no chance they would be given official permission to leave, and leaving without permission is becoming a missing nin. They would get hunted down by Konoha for that.
Additionally, where would they go? Even if they’re a strong clan, where could they possibly be safe? Not just from Konoha, but from anyone after their bloodline? And we know there are many people like that. Orochimaru, obviously, but even Kumo as a whole -- they were willing to start a war over one girl with Byakugan. How far would they go for a far broader range of subjects with the Sharingan? Would any smaller village risk taking them in? And all the larger villages have deep bad blood with Konoha, could they risk trying to see sanctuary with them?
Being strong isn’t a guarantee of survival, for a smaller group. Uzushio was famously skilled, and look where that got them.
Leaving is 100% not an option. It stopped being an option once the villages were formed.
2) “They should have just endured/it can’t have been that bad.” Setting aside everything else and not discussing how “bad” the discrimination against the Uchiha clan was, this is also ignoring something I feel is pretty obvious.
“Enduring” the situation as it was before the coup would just drag out an inevitable end.
Shisui wanted to stop the coup bloodlessly by brainwashing the clan leadership, and Danzou killed him for that -- because Danzou wanted to wipe out the Uchiha clan all along. If they hadn’t given him the excuse to do it via the coup, he would have found some other reason eventually. Or outright manufactured one, since we know he’s perfectly capable of framing people up (re: Hanzou and Akatsuki). How long before Danzou planted some evidence that they were conspiring with foreign powers or something?
And it’s entirely possible, even likely, that the clan leadership was aware of this on some level. Yes, they wouldn’t know about the specific incident with Shisui. But I doubt they couldn’t see the writing on the wall.
Mikoto and Fugaku were entirely prepared to die when Itachi showed up to kill them. I feel like they were probably aware that Danzou wasn’t going to let the clan live, in the end.
shino and kiba have to watch them be couple-y and cant decide if its better or worse than the fainting
