InvestorPlace: Don’t Miss Out on the Netflix of 5G Stocks
Wednesday morning brought with it an unexpected development. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) had settled their years-long legal dispute. And Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), in response, slunk away from the 5G space with its tail between its legs. That’s because, of all the winners that 5G stocks will create, Intel believes it’s already lost out in the mobile 5G space, which our own Matt…

T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) Collaborates With Samsung On 5G Network Technology
Samsung has announced a partnership with T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) through which they will work together to develop 5G networks and make it available to the public.
The partnership will concentrate on field trials to test how the network will perform in the real world as well as their range. They will also focus on lab work to push the development to its optimum capacity. The testing of the technology is expected to commence later on this year and it will involve Samsung’s 5G proofs of concept system and the 28 GHz spectrum from T-Mobile.
Samsung will support its proof of concept through its advanced beam forming technology. The trials are expected to continue and become more thorough in 2017 though they will still continue to use the 28 GHz system from Samsung.
“We are excited to work with Samsung to see how we can bring to life key attributes of emerging 5G technology, including extreme speed, low latency, and massive connectivity,”stated T-Mobile’s chief technology officer Neville Ray.
Earlier this year, T-Mobile had announced plans to collaborate with Nokia Corp (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC)to test out 5G network technology using the 28 GHz band. Ericsson filed a request with the FCC to test out the 14.7-15.5 GHz near the T-Mobile headquarters in Washington.
The new collaboration with Samsung is ideal for both firms. Samsung on its part will provide devices and equipment that provide an attractive route towards satisfying the constantly growing demand for data especially as the world moves towards 5G. The upcoming 5G technology is expected to facilitate more developments in IoT as well as mobile application development. 5G is expected to speed up low latency speeds so that it can facilitate better experiences and richer content.
“Applying Samsung’s 5G leadership to assist T-Mobile in developing their next generation network is an exciting opportunity,”says Mark Louison, the Senior VP and general manager of Samsung’s network business in the US.
T-Mobile closed its day at $46.71 after opening at $46.64.
