Tagged by my bud @kayteonline a thousand years ago to list 10 Works in Progress! I’ve not got 10 (victory!!) but the ol’ idea folder is always crankin’, I know I need to frikkin’ finish stinkin’ The Lore You Know (not even linking, v. ashamed not done) and I crank away on Revelation near-weekly (launch of book 2 in near future, but if you’re new to it, you’ve got pleeeeenty to read).
Honestly the main WIP for me right now is [drumroll] a podcast with a friend of mine. And it’s not SPN, but much of the content is indeed what I’d call tangentially SPN. Because of that, we’re actually gonna premiere the first handful of episodes here before moving on to Apple podcasts and such.
So, hey. How’s about that. Lil’ ol’ me, bringing the snark to the masses.

If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
They need fresh blood in leadership. Badly. I’ve not seen/heard any indication that Dabb is proficient enough at being a leader to hold showrunner status, and it serves no one to have producer-head writers-chief showrunner familial entanglements because it breeds discontent. There’s a reason why many companies have policies about dating/marriage between folks who are at differing status and/or who work in the same department, for instance. I mean, who do you go to with concerns about BuckLeming? Leming’s husband, or the boy with no leadership prowess?
It’s telling that their strongest writers started leaving the higher that whole crew was elevated in status. It’s telling when someone who is known in the industry as being an asset and a pleasure to work with - and not just in US-based shows, but internationally and across genres (I’m talking Sheppard, here) - left under such bad circumstances. It’s telling when (however politely and even-toned he did it) your star just ups and says “Yeah, I asked for guidance about specific things, and got none” about his showrunner, the captain of the ship, as it were.
The cast chemistry and the fanbase are what’s holding the show afloat at this point, and it’s got Law & Order longevity in it, to be sure, but they gotta get some more dynamic and supportive leadership in the house if they want to maintain and (I’d like to think) evolve. Still plenty of plots to mine in sci-fi/paranormal/etc. land, to be sure.
Oh wait. *IN* the show.
Nothing. Otherwise I wouldn’t have anything to fix by way of my stories. 😉
