some very short thoughts on s4 ep4... gonna do another post later on but about more specific things, this is more observation-y
so the serial killer mother son duo were hilarious and teffying? like wtaf those two bickering really caught me off guard like dude they didn't want Carlos there as much as he didn't. so unprepared and stressed serial killers are hilarious but also it caught me off guard then how they managed to be so dang dangerous in like a few seconds. so that was terrifying.
tho i won't lie, trudy kept being an icon. I have conflicted feelings about her but I hate her son so I have sympathy. but also she's evil, but also she just wants her son to love and appreciate her. his dad didn't want him so like. I'm too invested in the serial killer mother.
as soon as she took that knife out I was ready to fucking riot though, catch me shouting at my phone "No Trudy Stop We Talked About This."
my blood pressure was too high throughout this episode. though I'm not gonna lie, the whole Owen subplot while annoying is also quite funny. it felt like lonestar, at least owen did.
just like after the past three episodes it feels more like the show I fell in love with, maybe there's similar writers to s1/2 but either way it feels familiar. I'd say the past few kinda just felt off? idk if anyone else felt like that?
ik the writing ain't perfect but it just felt off and I'm hoping it stays back on track because the promo for the next episode looks amazing and terrifying.
Curious about…5 things you want to see in season 4 of 9-1-1 Lone Star?? 💗
1) the boys in wedding planning mode. I want arguments over things that don't matter and them creating a ceremony that is theirs and kills us all. Then a honeymoon in Hawai'i
2) Nateo going the distance. We love a bi queen and her supportive shorter king
3) Marjan getting a story arc that shows her as more than the bad ass we've always known her to be. Like what did her parents think about the ending of her engagement?
4) Judd taking on more with the 126. I'm still of a mind to think that Rob Lowe could leave in S4 so give me Captain Ryder honouring his brothers by leading the house
5) More Carlos/Grace please. There needs to be a First Responder Spouse club set up
I've still got 20 minutes on the last train with the drunks. Save me and ask me anything
“Sorry sir.” The paramedic told him. “Only family allowed.”
“She’s my wife!” barked out the normally mild-mannered firefighter.
“Sorry sir.” The paramedic apologized and stepped out of his way.
As Mateo climbed into the ambulance, the rest of the 126 were stunned by what they had just heard. As they watched the ambulance pull away with the lights and sirens blaring no one said a word until Marjan broke the silence.
“Did anyone else not know that Mateo and Nancy are married?”
“No, you’re the crazy one!”
The smell of charcoal bbq filled the air as the 126 enjoyed their first warm weekend of the season. The Ryder backyard was filled with the 126 and their family and friends.
“I’m just saying that it’s possible that Wonder Woman could pick up Mijnour.” Nancy argued back.
Nancy, Mateo and a few other members of the 126 were seated around the patio table on the Ryder patio. A few drinks had taken their conversation to Nancy and Mateo debating what makes someone worthy of picking up Thor’s hammer. As the debate carried on, Marjan, Judd and TK listened to the debate. It wasn’t a secret that Mateo and Nancy liked each other. In fact it was a running bet in the firehouse as to when they would make things official.
“What are we talking about?” Carlos asked as placed drinks on the table.
“So nerd speak. Got it.” Carlos responded, earning a chuckle from the table.
As Nancy went to make her next point she was surprised by a coughing fit. She coughed for a few moments until she was able to catch her breath.
“Are you okay?” Mateo asked, concern painted on his face.
“I’m good.” Nancy assured the firefighter. “I just have terrible allergies so this time of year is not kind to me.”
“Yeah.” TK agreed. “You should hear her and Cap in the ambulance. It’s a never ending sneeze fest for the two of them.”
The table chuckled again.
“Nance, do you remember that call in that guy’s garden?” TK asked his partner.
“Oh yeah.” Nancy chuckled. “We were checking this guy out for some chest pain. Cap was leaning over him and listening to his breathing. She tried to help him take some deep breaths by deep breathing with him and ended up taking in a deep breath of the pollen on his clothes.”
TK and Nancy were both giggling now with the rest of the table.
“I have never heard a human being sneeze so many times in a row.” TK laughed.
“It gets better.” Nancy adds. “The patient leaned in to try to check on her and he got himself a face of full Cap snot.”
The whole, tabel now erupted in laughter. They were laughing so hard that they did not realize that Nancy had stood up. The laughter died down when they heard coughing from beside them. They looked over to see Nancy coughing again. This time struggling to catch her breath.
“Are you okay, Nance?” Marjan asked, concerned for her friend.
The paramedic did not answer as she continued to try and get air into her lungs.
“Nance.” TK sounded concerned as he stood.
Fear soon struck the first responders as they saw the fear in Nancy’s face. Then there was blood. Blood poured from Nancy's mouth as she coughed. Her skin was sweaty and ashen. TK was only part way to her when she fell backwards.
“CAP!” TK screamed out as he and the others surrounded their fallen friend.
Everything started moving quickly. Carlos had quickly called 9-1-1. TK immediately tried to do what he could to help his friend. Blood still poured from Nancy’s mouth as she struggled to breathe. Mateo knelt down beside the paramedic and took her hand in his. Her eyes locked with his momentarily until Captain Vega and Captain Strand appeared beside them and Tommy gently pushed Mateo back.
“She’s hemorrhaging.” TK stated.
“Was she hurt recently?” Captain Vega asked the group of first responders in the vicinity.
When no clear answer came up immediately. Mateo answered for everyone.
“Not that we know of.”
“What are you thinking, Cap?” TK asked his captain.
“My guess, it could be a clot that made its way to her lungs.” Tommy responded. “But that’s just a guess. Where is EMS?”
“Two minutes out.” Carlos answered.
“What can we do, Captain?” The fire captain asked the EMS captain.
By now Nancy had lost consciousness. Her chest was barely registering breaths. Her time was running out. They needed rescue now.
“Hang in there, Nancy.” Tommy instructed. “That’s an order from your captain.”
After what seemed like an eternity they heard the sirens of the ambulance as it pulled up to the Ryder house. The paramedics from the 131 entered the year sporting their rescue gear. Tommy filled them in on the situation as they accessed Nancy. Within minutes, the paramedic was loaded onto a stretcher. Mateo followed along the stretcher holding her hand, listening to Tommy speaking to the paramedics. When they arrived at the ambulance and Nancy was placed inside, Mateo tried to follow Tommy onto the bench seat.
“Sorry sir.” The paramedic told him. “Only family allowed.”
“She’s my wife!” barked out the normally mild-mannered firefighter.
“Sorry sir.” The paramedic apologized and stepped out of his way.
