Tyrone Spong vs. Nathan Corbett 2 - GLORY 11 Chicago
It’s crazy to think Tyrone Spong hasn’t been a kickboxer in like 8 years when he broke his leg kicking Gokhan Saki. For those that don’t know he went on to boxing, almost challenging Oleksandr Usyk for one of the cruiserweight titles but he failed a drug test. Then he was charged for illegally keeping an unlicensed cougar in his Florida mansion that managed to escape. And no one has seen him since.
But almost a decade after giving up on his push into MMA with the WSOF (2013), Spong (2-0) will be back competing in the sport. He will be headlining for the U.S. debut of Eagle FC, the promotion of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. His opponent in the main event will be Russian heavyweight Sergei Kharitonov (33-9). Eagle FC 44 will be this Friday (Jan. 28) and is available for free when you sign up for an account for FLXcast thru the promotion’s website.
