Let’s talk about Chardonnay - A variety that might leave you a little confused if you are making your first steps in choosing white wines that you think you’ll like. You might have seen them sold in pubs as the “house wines” or conversely being swirled in glasses of pricy, traditional Burgundy lovers. What can you expect from “Blanc Bec 2018” by Julien Merle? (Chardonnay from Beaujolais) For us, this was absolute crush at first sight that developed to love in the short time that we had to get acquainted with this wine. The aromas are delicate, subdued even, some tropical fruit, a touch of honey and a bit of tension. On the palate it explodes with purity and layers of tropical fruit. It’s really well balanced though, which means that going through a whole bottle is way too easy. Totally a wine that will entertain you and your friends/family, but would also work well paired with hard, mature cheeses like comte or even sashimi. A Real BEAUTY.
