This is gonna be a #hottake
Anyone who wants to go on hormones should be able to go on hormones.
No one should feel obligated to keep their natal hormones. No one should feel obligated to keep their natal anatomy either.
I wrote down some thoughts and realized that HRT and gender-confirming surgeries ought to be treated a little more like tattoos/piercings. A way of permanent self-expression, able to accessed by anyone willing to go through with it.
Of course there are differences in that a tattoos or piercings aren’t going to literally save people’s lives. And I’m not advocating for demedicalization of HRT and gender-confirming surgeries.
I’m simply saying that, regardless of gender, if you feel like you want to pursue HRT or a surgery, look into it! Know the risks! Think about the benefits! If you think you’d benefit from an orchiectomy, hysterectomy, etc, research it. Learn the aftercare and life changes associated with them. Likewise for HRT. If you think you’d benefit from going on E or T, research it. Learn as much as you can about these things. Think about if it’s right for you. Gatekeeping, in the end, only hurts the community as a whole. Shuts doors on people who need help, and a sense of belonging.
Life is a choose-your-own-adventure. You don’t have to feel stuck with the body you were born into.

So my appointment at the clinic is on Tuesday and I'm excited and a lil nervous. I hate doctors but because i don't have to got to this one and I'm not "sick" its all my choice its less scary. Also my therapist says doing stuff that makes us anxious takes practice and I've been practicing this doctor thing A LOT lately. Still haven't made up my mind entirely about how high of a dose. Full or half? Ill decide after the doc awnsers my questions. My wife says i can always change my mind which lol I'd like to not change my mind^^ I'm doing it to much... we'll see

Bottom: Oct 21 2017, 2 years on T & being a total nerd on the right
I might look grumpy but in reality I’m quite content plus a little tired. Life is wild (March 2016 --> September 2017)
So who remembers the days that I said I’d never want facial hair...
I just got a referral for my NB top surgery and I'm walking on the clouds
Sure it'll reset the clock when I could have had just a reduction intended for cis women next month but I don't care! If I'm going through surgery I want to sleep on my stomach and never deal with boobs again.
It was not easy to find the info but I learnt that nowadays NB surgery is done in at least two Canadian provinces, including mine. It was not a thing when I was first referred to surgery five years ago.
