My cat used to do that, she’d climb the curtains and knock the bar down when she was in a huff. We got a water spray bottle to train her out of it, which worked really well! Might be worth a try? It doesn’t harm them at all, just shocks them a little.
Firstly, I’m really glad it worked for your cat! But everything I’ve read says that for a lot of cats this just makes them afraid of you. Aversive conditioning is pretty difficult to do with cats; the way they do social organisation doesn’t really lend itself to it - unlike dogs they don’t internalise ‘Don’t’ rules very well. Like I said, I’m glad it worked for yours - I just wanted to address this because it’s often advised but seldom advisable.
