Worry had driven him down, further away and away from the safety of his office until the employee areas had made way for crowded spaces and rich customers. All of a sudden, no matter how prepared he had thought he was, no matter how he logically knew this would happen - everything was too much, too loud, too enclosed with too many people in one spot and yet he had pressed on. Every blonde girl potentially the one but oh so wrong and by the time he had taken hearing aids out as to avoid sensory overload it was almost too late.
Anxiety filled his being and overrode common sense but the need to find her, to make sure everything was alright, outweighed reason else as he himself got worse. Every fibre of his being was agitated, but it wasn’t until they had found each other that the realisation just how bad he was hit him. Rushing back came doubt and screeching fear, what had been too much moments ago was suddenly unbearable and while he had surely looked lost before, until Verin came to bring him away, it had been downright pathetic.
But she knew what he needed, always knew how to fix her broken toy as with an empty room his breath returned and once the hearing aids were back in the dulled casino noises weren’t so oppressing anymore. Breathe in and out, seconds ticked away before he numbly nodded, gravitating towards her warmth, her safety - they couldn’t always stay like this, he knew that already, but he had felt loneliness enough for several lifetimes and didn’t want to imagine a life without his best friend anymore. ❝ Nnnh nh noh now ? yh yeh yessss, the thah thank thank yu you. ❞
