My non fiction read at the moment is the delightful The Soul Of An Octopus 🐙 by Sy Montgomery. I’m learning so much about these fascinating creatures. On the bottom of each page there’s a grey image of an octopus and if you flip the pages quickly the octopus seems to move like one of those old flick books. Definitely an added bonus to some great writing. I saw this book making the rounds a while ago but I deliberately didn’t want to know anything about it for fear of spoilers. When the opportunity came up to include it in the #newyearoldreads challenge (started by @emmasbookishcorner ) and buddy read it with @keeperofpages it was a win-win situation! 😱The Rumour is a debut novel and a cracking one at that. It kept me on my toes and constantly intrigued to continue turning the pages. 😱Janel and I tried to stay one step ahead and figure out what might be going on but we failed dismally and were delighted to do so. It’s always a good sign when the author can surprise the reader like she did. It’s also one of the qualities I look for most in my crime fiction or thrillers. 😱 Lesley Kara writes about small town issues and the characters that inhabit a small town so well. Morning bookstagram! It’s the weekend and the best time for me to get lots of reading done. Today (amongst others!) I will be reading East West Street, a non fiction book that focuses on the secret history of the author’s family. 📚We hear about the two Nuremberg prosecutors who invented the crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity, the Nazi governor who murdered thousands and incredible acts of wartime bravery. 🤗 I’m joining in with the lovely @emmasbookishcorner for her #newyearoldreads challenge, please check out her post and account if you don’t already, she is fabulous.
